I've been getting into Formula 1 racing lately and have a few questions for the European gamers here. Here in the States, the last Xbox Formula 1 game came out at launch back in 2001. It was EA's F1 2001 which has become somewhat of a rarity to track down. Aside from that, no other Formula 1 games have hit the Xbox since then (Codemasters did release 2 Indy Car games, but that's not the same). Does the Xbox in Europe see F1 games released annually? Are they mainly from EA or are there other franchises coming from developers like Ubi Soft? Odd how we get Rugby 2005 here in the States but no F1 games. When the DC hit our shores we saw some 4 or 5 different F1 games in the span of 2 years, now nothing.
Looks like theres F1 career challenge and F1 02 and not a lot else. Theres Zillions on the PS2 though
I believe Sony Europe hold the official FIA license, so I imagine they would not like to see an XBox version. It would cost anyone else around £2million to use the license. You could take a look at Downforce or something along those lines.
I think you're right...I recall seeing the PS2 logo on one of the F1 cars during the Hungarian GP. And the drivers stated they familiarize themselves with new tracks specifically using the PS2 version, so that may indeed by the case. I'm not sure I've heard of the Downforce game you're referring to. Is that a Euro-only release?
