Thanks a TON for all the help! After looking at prices and shipping maybe Swap Magic IS the best way to go. Egad shipping from Europe is preposterously high! Sorry for overcomplicating things but hopefully someone Googling will find this very thorough thread and find the answers I couldn't when I tried Googling it! So, if I use a Swap Magic and Component cables I'm good for PAL PS2 games? Anyone tried this themselves? On that note I actually HAVE a mod chipped PS1 and I just remembered I own three Euro PS1 games I was playing via emulators (Toshinden 4, Puchi Carat, and SHOOT). I should throw those in there and see what they do (does my TV display them? does Elgato pick them up? ect). I wonder...see I have a Korean PS4 and apparently PS4's internal power supply actually detects the voltage and adapts(?) all I know is I'm using my Korean PS4 with a US cable and have had no problems. I don't wanna make any guarantees but maybe the SCPH-90000 uses the same or similar internal power supply?
Did you read my PS1 PS2 PAL to NTSC Guide linked on the previous page? Oh and I mentioned the Swap Magic issue as well. Note the text blocks at the lower section of each TV screenshot. Swap Magic at left vs a reburned converted disc at right.
It boils down to his TV, whether it can support the 50Hz signal. It doesn't matter what console he got (a NTSC set with mods or not, a DEX or a PAL set). If he gets a signal converter, then it would help.
Okay, I give up. What's a reputable site to get a Swap Magic and a fliptop case from? Been Googling for a while and had no luck. Also is it better to flip top mod a slim or a phat PS2? ...and I just found out about EyeToy Play: Hero. I NEED this in my life. I skimmed it before and re-read it recently. I shall certainly refer back to it for future issues.
