Anyone watch it this evening? The usual laugh fest with obscure European nations singing crap songs, lots of tactical political voting and Terry Wogan making rude comments whilst getting progressively more drunk as the evening drags on.

The Finns ran away with the win this year - if Slipknot entered Eurovision, this might be what it would look like.

Hahahaha I love the costumes !! The song isn't really that bad either or at least not by Eurovision song contest standards.

Republic of Ireland voting for UK and the other way around, all past USSR countries voting for each others , that was funny to watch...
The Finns's costumes were quite good, like a buffy episode under acid...
The song looks/hears like christian rock, although i didn't really listen to it...
The french comments were funny too, it seems it was the end of the world for the french singer, if she make it to the final contest, i wonder how the other early contestants were...
I guess we get used used to crappy artists these days, thanks to stupid "real-tv-gameshows"...

The eurovision song contest is like a joke that's running for about 50 years now.

Yeah, but it's still funny. That fat Dutch guy reading out the points from Holland made an arse of himself, whatever he was trying to do.

It's sooo political, it's hilarious. Quite a few countries don't even pretend anymore. The score reading from Cyprus was the best. "Hello from Nicosia, the last divided capital in Europe!" "And we Greeks only say 12 one way and that's in song." (sings Greek song)

Brilliant. I liked the Finns (It's the Arockalypse!) and Lithuanians (We are the winners of Eurovision!) for comedy value, the Ukraine had the fittest chick and I like the Romanian song since it was catchy and the guy could actually sing.

That Finnish song was great! It was the only group that dared to be different and open minded about what a Eurovision song is, it does not have to be shite pop. I'm glad their gamble paid off, true quality and I loved his axe mike!

And yes the whole contest is a joke. But at least it is quite a funny joke!

Also that is the only time of the year when I can stand that smug bastard Terry Wogan.

I don't know really, it's all soooo predictable. Also, I can't stand the style of presentation.

They should expand the concept to a 'world song' contest, should be funny. ;p

Hmmm what pissed me off, when we held that crappy show, was when the English commentator made fun of the two Danish people who were the hosts in Denmark. And fuck that shit, since they spoke better English, than this years hosts, And their french was also better.

Hmmm I do like some of the old songs in Danish (some of them are just funny :) ).

And also "Smuk Som Et Stjerneskud" that made us win .

Just sad that most of the songs, are utter shite, but I think I can find alot of songs that I like through the years. But I really don´t like Melodi Grand prix (the Danish name).

Joe Hax: I love your country , but I couldn´t give two shits about what Prince Charles, and William did about Finland, and the same goes to the Danish royal family(I don´t know if they saw it at all). Since I think the Queen is a very cold bitch, and I envy the Swedes, when they are allowed to say that "Prince Henri is gay !", and the norwegians are saying it in this way "are Henri gay ?"

But enough of the royal family, and God shave the queen. I think the Finnish song rocked the house, and well Nightwish made the way for Lordi to kick some god damn fucking arse :D

Christian True Metal is the term I would use about Lordi :)

Of course there are songs that stands out, and makes it into my ears, like much more than just the ton of Schläger music, many of the songs has been made in.

But hey I like some of those songs as well, even though they raped the Danish synthpop, with their synths in their songs.

Anyway, I am VERY biased(some people calls it ambivalent) about the contest.

I thought quite a few of the songs were not too bad. We can't watch it in Japan of course but thanks to Your Tube I managed to see them all. The UK's entry was bloody awful though ! What were they thinking with that school style rap shite ?

Sorry, but Wogan takes the piss out of absolutely everyone at eurovision. Part of the fun is listening to him get progressively more and more drunk.

Also, Lordi are not (or at least do not describe themselves as) Christian Rock. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lordi#Controversy)

Mighty Fine song though, Just downloaded it from iTMS
