I bought my snes because a friend had one back in the day and to be honest I had less care back then much happier time when the economy wasn't shit and I had less responsibility.
I bought an original GameBoy. My first GameBoy that I have the most fond memories with was the GameBoy Pocket, but the first time I've ever played it was on an original GameBoy in 1994 or so. I borrowed it from a friend and had a hard time figuring out that Jungle Stage in Donkey Kong... all on that super green display. I bought the Japanese version of the GameBoy (boxed/complete) so it'd fit in my collection, but I really just wanted it for the green screen.
done it far to many times, gameboys, ps1s, ps2s, xboxs, nes maby. lets just say playing pokemon in lectures is the best fun
Of course, had to get back an SNES and N64. I fire up mario kart 64 a few times a week. Probably beat Ocarina of time every few years. The 64 gets more use then anything else.
Every console before the PS2 I bought for nostalgic reasons. As soon as I got older, got a job, I slowly started buying all the old consoles and games I used to have.
i enjoy buying the consoles i couldn't afford to buy when i was younger, dont get me wrong im not complaining as my family bought me everything they could and I never went without but stuff like the Jaguar, Multi Mega, Net Yaroze, Arcade Machine etc etc. I always dreamed of having my own when i was younger and now i do Only had a Amstrad CPC 464 and a Mega drive when i was growing up and used to go round my friends to play Mario 3 etc. and loved it, felt great when i get my own NES and loaded it up, happy days
I bought a DOCTOR V64 because the Nintendo 64 was my first EVER game system, and as many of friends it was as well. So after I got into collecting for the Nintendo 64 I found out about the DOCTOR V64, it sounding really cool at the time of research I bought it along with another N64, and then I bought another Nintendo 64 blue/white. Soon to buy a CD64 for the same reason
Of course. For whatever reason, I find systems like the Atari 2600 and Genesis nostalgic, even though I did have them as a little kid. I like to think of them as artifacts that represent their respective time periods.
Of course. I bought a green 1989 Gameboy system recently because of fond nostalgic memories. I want to get myself a new NES system to replace my dead original. I probably won't play it, but it's a nice working artifact from my youth.
^This! Pretty much all the old consoles I have bought have been ones I never had growing up. Also I still have my original NES, SNES, and Genesis from my youth.
