Print quality on the boxes is a good way to find out, and also the label... It's sometimes every hard to see from a photo though.

Those pictures are really bad, plus the seller's other item is Beats by Dr. Dre iPhone covers. I wouldn't trust him to not know if a game is a pirate.

he wants 20 dollars plus postage if needed for each game sounds shady i am unsure if they are geniune or not do you think i should go have a look at them next week after my holiday ?

I agree bad pictures and the number of the cartridges is also alarming he is either legit and brought a shipment of these or he is just a pirater making cash as fast as possible

if you can get their to have a look in person you should be able to tell fairly quickly if they are pirate copies or not

I'm pretty sure they are fake, the leaf green box has the complete wrong artwork and it's shiny, GBA Pokemon boxes are shiny (apart from the Pirates and fakes).

Looking at the cartridge and looking up fake carts on Google Images suggests they're fakes to me.

Page on spotting fake Pokemon GBA Carts compared to a real one, this is the one I tend to refer to from time to time after getting a fake Pokemon FireRed and Ruby version before despite having the seller send me photos of real ones. So, be a bit wary of that too.

There's also the text inside the carts too which is also handy to spot some fakes as well.

quite right mate, just let them go but someone who doesn't know they are fake will most likely end up buying them thinking they are legit

That guide should be taken with a grain of salt, too, though. It seems to be written from a European standpoint, so the ESRB's E rating is listed as an indicator for a fake, while it's perfectly normal to have it on US cartridges as it's said in the comments there (my original Metroid Zero Mission and Medabots AX also have it, for example). Also, Ruby, Sapphire and presumably Emerald should have a "round thing inside the case" - a battery for the RTC - while there shouldn't be one inside FireRed/LeafGreen, as all of them use Flash RAM (ROM? I forgot) to save data, and FR/LG do not have clocks. Granted, the battery's not easily visible as its underneath the sticker, but it can be seen when looking through from the cart connector.

It's also gumtree little to none "selling guidelines" so much fake, shady shit on there, and usually sellers are stupid either never respond or the ad just magically goes 'poof'.

Don't forget also, he's selling supposedly "USA" copies of the game, if you message him asking "what version are these?" and he responds Australian then he's a pirate seller...

Also as 7Force mentioned, he seems to order in large, large quantities... and with pictures like that they're known to be fake goods, the only way they make money like that is to buy in large numbers from the suppliers.

I only posted it as the item is for sale on Gumtree, an Australian listing site and is in New South Wales so it added to the large amount of stock to see the US ESRB rating on the cartridge when the usual ones here follow the EU look and most fakes I've seen here tend to have ESRB labels OR incorrect labels missing text and the like on there.

Just seeing as I'm in NSW as well and have seen far too many fakes floating around over the past couple of years with the main bit being the wrong labels, some of the carts looking correct but also not being soldered together internally, missing an internal battery for R/S/E among some other things I've come across I figured this would be an easier way for the fellow to spot the difference between the common ones here.

If it were a US one or eBay, I would have linked to some other in-depth articles I've seen on some of the Pokemon fan-sites on fake and real carts.

Either way, it's on the Australian side of the site.
