Thunder Force IV:Metal Squad(Stage 8) Heavy Metal Remix Ever wondered what Thunder Force IV's Bio Base(Metal Squad)--would sound like played on a guitar NOT sounding like Iron Maiden? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYtrOPvyKyo Or sounding really muddy and awful? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjmkXowcx9Y&feature=related Most arrangements on the guitar of this song are always transposed an octave up (or are just awkwardly arranged)and it doesn't sound quite right to my ears. Well, I mean they sounds GOOD(truly). But just not HEAVY like the original song. That's because the original song is in F and if you know about Guitar, standard tuning's lowest is E2. NOT ANYMOAR http://k003.kiwi6.com/hotlink/u4x8d...a_bloodlines_not_another_full_metal_squad.mp3 I've always wanted an arranged version of this song more like the original's instrumentation. So I Made one in about 10 days for Dwelling of Duels @ MAGfest X! http://dwellingofduels.net/duel.php...th&month=Nintendo vs. Sega&img=nintendovssega I won 5th place for this, but that doesn't matter. I just wanted to share and hopefully there are people out there like me who adore this song and Thunder Force in general. If you like it, cool! If you don't, that's cool too. Have a nice new years everyone!
I don't know, I like that first link. Sounds pretty nice to me. Makes me interested in playing Thunder Force VI or maybe Thunder Force on the Genesis.
It does sound good , but it doesn't give off the same heavy metal feeling in the rhythms of the guitars and drums that the original song does by playing the main instruments an octave higher. It's most likely because not many people can physically play the original which is tuned to F below E standard tuning on an electric guitar. Let alone have long enough fingers (or thought enough to create a custom tuning to make it easier) to play the root note and then play the third of the Fminor Triad(and so on for the rest of the chords) an octave up from the root. *shrug*
I was never a big fan of Thunder Force, but I've listened to the TF4 soundtrack on AudioOverload and I like it. Good music for the Genesis. That's reason enough to consider playing it.
Oh, no, you originally typed Thunder Force VI (6), which was some bullshit homage made by Sega and absolutely did not have Naosuke Arai doing the soundtrack (nor anything that made it remotely interesting). Back in the day Tecno Soft certainly did come correct with the music though, no doubt. They're actually my favorite shooter developer of all time. If you want to hear their absolute best soundtrack, check out Blast Wind.
Blast Wind eh? I've never heard of that. But from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOeChvbzj30, it looks awesome! The music is great too! I really love the music and production of music from the redbook era of the 90's.
Check out the final boss' music (make sure you crank up the volume!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RjjvvuRfIw Best. fucking. final. boss. music. ever. And it's a great battle too. Their game Hyper Duel also had amazing music. I think if I had to rank the top 5 Tecno Soft soundtracks I'd say: 1. Blast Wind 2. Thunder Force III 3. Hyper Duel 4. Thunder Force IV 5. Thunder Force V
That is definitely an awesome song. Maybe i'll record an arrangement of that song with live instruments one of these days this year. It's not a terribly hard to perform song. Blast Wind has been added to my "SHMUPS -to buy list" for sure!
