Just lost a few hours of play time with Conker :-( There was no save left after I pushed reset and reloaded the game! Oh the horror! Started testing out a few games for saves. Zelda ocarina: no save after reset Super Mario 64: no save after reset ... and Conker then. Am I doing something wrong here? Have the latest OS. Made a fresh "install" too, no success.
Installed 1.28 instead of 1.29. Now Zelda saves. Testing out Conker now... ...yes, Conker saves too. I'm sticking with OS 1.28.
i'm sticking with 1.28 for the time being aswell. i know there is a workaround for saves in 1.29 and it has auto patch for banjo tooie and built in mempak to sd feature but i ips patched banjo tooie anyways and i'm using the mempak tool rom for now. hopefully any bugs will be sorted for next OS update.
Just lost another save with Conker! :-( I just turned the machine off. I thought that the save since last time would still be there?! Instead it was "erased/cleared". Wtf?! Im going back to my original Conker cartridge instead. This is just to unreliable to trust.
don't just turn the machine off. play, save and reset the console. shut down at the everdrive main menu. if you don't reset after saving, the game won't be saved to sd cart.
I thought the latest save file would still be "safe"? I thought only the latest game progress would be lost. In this case the whole save file got lost. :-( Conker has "auto save"... like many games.
There's definitely a problem - the ED64 is very reliable, so reliable that you forget it's doing anything, really (you get used to pressing RESET on the N64 instead of turning the N64 off and on, when you want to change games, or when you want to turn the N64 off, then you press RESET then when the menu comes up then you turn off the N64, that way any data is saved to the SD Card as it should be). A quick way to test the ED64's save and loading is to; 1. Load the game Perfect Dark, 2. go to Combat Simulator, change a few options at random, 3. then save settings. Choose any file name, and save to the game cartridge. 4. When it's saved, go back to the settings, and alter a setting, so you know what it was before, and what you've just altered it to now. 5. Load the settings you just saved, and make sure that the option you just changed, is now back to what it was, so you know the settings were saved correctly. 6. Now, reset the N64 (don't turn it off, of course, you MUST reset to save data to the Everdrive 64), 7. Reload Perfect Dark (the exact same version you loaded before, if you have two or more versions of Perfect Dark on your SD Card then load the version of Perfect Dark you loaded before), 8. Go to Combat Simulator, and try to load the settings you saved before. If they don't exist, then your Everdrive 64, or the SD Card, is not working properly. Try reformatting the SD card on your PC and manually setting up the folders, as described in; http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?38864-help-setting-up-everdrive-64 If it still doesn't work, then post the manufacturer and type of SD card you're using, as it might have problems with the ED64.
The Perferct Dark test worked fine. A strange thing happened... I decided to start up Conker again to start a new save file. Suddenly my old save file was loaded! :-O Im 100% sure it was not there the last time. Anyway: Never turn off the N64! Always use the reset button! Powet off in a game might do strange things.
OS 1.29 has definitly a problem with Super Mario 64 (Tested U 1.0). Game saves, but loses save after reset. //Edit// OS 1.28 gives me an Init Error 100 after Save Reset. OS 1.27 works fine. Hope you can find the Problem. I tested it on a Pal N64 with Everdrive 2.0 with Super Mario 64 (U) [!].z64
I just tried the Pal version. It doesn't work with OS 1.29, which seems normal, since it is the same save type as the US version. On OS 1.27 it works fine.
I just got my ED64. First thing I did was try Mario 64. I have no problems. I played till 1 star. Saved the game. Reset the console. I loaded another game. powered off the console. Then load Mario 64 again. The saved game with 1 star was there. I'm using 1.29 and Super Mario 64 (U) [!].z64
Conker-- I'm having a similar problem with in-game saves. I started a thread over at http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=576.0 yesterday. I loaded Perfect Dark, but am unable to even create a new profile. It brings me to a screen asking me to delete other save files (of which none are listed). Any ideas ?
Can't create new PD profile I'm unable to even create a new profile in Perfect Dark with my new ED64. Tried two SD cards without success. Any ideas ? (Horrible quality) video: http://youtu.be/wbCBoGul9jA I load the game without an issue, try to create a new profile, and am asked to delete a previous (nonexistent) profile.
Same here. Every time i hit the reset button a savefile is created but if load up the game again everything is back to default. After switching to 1.28 everything seems to work as intended though.
Thanks for that saturnu. I do hope he implements browsing covers in this update. I also didn't realize that krikzzs forum had a more active community surrounding ED64. I was lurking there last night and see others wanting to browse covers. This gives me hope!
