I mounted it in a prepped cartridge case and put in a 2GB card then inserted it in my Retron-3 (original not revision). I turned the power on and all I got was a black screen. Tried formatting the SD card on my desktop then putting it in the machine and still no luck. I tried a second 2GB SD card and still nada. The first card was a Dane and the 2nd a Kingston micro in a SD adapter. I saw the formatting tip on this forum but, as I mentioned, that didn't work. I didn't really see any other posts that looked relevant. Anyone know how to fix the problem? I'm stumped.
Not according to the Krikzz website. I've seen Igor recommend the Retron-3 for use with the Everdrive on this very forum. http://krikzz.com/pub/support/everdrive-md/supportlist.txt "EverDrive-MD support list known supported systems: megadrive/genesis 1/2/3, wondermega/jvc xeye, multimega/SDX, nomad, retron 3, 32x note: hard reset option should be disabled for next systems: wondermega/jvc xeye, retron 3 known unsupported systems: AtGames Firecore clone systems"
Not stupid at all. I have the side marked "back" so that it faces away from me when the cartridge is inserted (non-label or screw side of the cart).
or you have defective cart or problem in your retron. you should see cart menu even without SD card. hard to be assured in retron. yes, i know that some people who have everdrive used this cart with retron, but: 1) i have not retron, so i can't test new firmware and OS on this system 2)chinese guys, who produce retron's, they may want to create retron cheaper and change circuit for that, so no any warranties that retron which sold 3 months ago is same as retrons which sell today
United States. I had a Genesis 1 that I gave away about 5 years ago. I'm sure I could get it back... eventually but if it's a bad board I'd rather not wait or spend money getting another Genesis just to find out that the Everdrive is bad. No menu without the card either. I also tried starting up without the card and the ABC buttons pressed.
Do you know anyone with a genesis? It'd help in tracking down if it's the board or your retron 3. Since you could test on something that is known good.
This blank screen happened to me before. What I did to fix them is quite simple , using Q-tip and alcohol to clean the contact. I recieved the carts directly from KRIKzz so I guess the his working station may not be quite clean because carts come with dust already. It no big deal though , since the first clean I've never had to do it again.
Yeah, it looks like I'm going to have to do that. Unfortunately, I don't really know anyone who has Genesis anymore. I may have to try to borrow my old one (gave away 5+ years ago). Cleaned it twice now and no luck. I appreciate all the help. I guess I have to find a Genesis.
Have you tried to see if any other Genesis games work? Also, have you checked to make sure the selector is on Genesis?
You might be able to find a used one in a thrift store like Goodwill. I've usually seen them pop up in there several times.
Genesis 1 and 2 models are very easy to come by on the cheap. I see them daily on cragslist...also flea markets and thrift stores, pawn shops, ebay...
I found a genesis 1 for $25.00 at a flea market and that was with about 5 or 6 games, the only thing with genesis 1 is it is picky as hell with the power supply /like from 3rd partys youll here a loud buzzing noise i corrected that by ordering one that is for genesis 1 from nintendo repair shop they have a lot of nice products, checkout dk oldies, jj games, luckie games there some good sites as well for original hardware. Most clone systems are okay but sound and graphics look and sound much better on original hardware!
Clones are poor quality/cheap junk generally. It's not the fault of the EverDrive that it doesn't work with them.
