Got my Everdrive MD and have been happy with it until now. I have a Sega Genesis Model 2 NTSC-U with no mods as far as I know as bought on eBay. Went to play a USA game and the picture was in black and white and lines going down so I turned the system off and tried again and still the same. After that every game was black and white with lines going down. The only way I could get it back was to put a Sonic 2 cart in then the after the Everdrive would go back to normal for a bit then go back to black and white half way through a game. I have the latest OS 35 and firmware 14.
I would suggest trying on another system before assuming its the EverDrive that's the issue. The EverDrive may just be the catalyst for a bigger problem with your actual system.
Are you using a correct power supply? Everdrive has more components than normal games. 32X might be one thing to try. Since it uses the console's RGB lines to operate, 32X contains its own encoder for making composite.
Yep have the correct power supplies for both systems. Just strange that it's doing this. Seems like the console is trying to switch to pal. My 32X gives a really bad display and can only use it on my model 1 due to not having all the cables and spacer
I don't think that's normally possible. As far as I know neither hz or color mode may be toggled by a cartridge. I guess could be a switchless region mod gone wrong...
Um, let me double check something on the pinout, but I think there IS a way to do it, but I don't think the Everdrive uses them.
My model 2 does have some wires on the motherboard that look like they shouldn't be there and the reset button doesn't work. Maybe I have a dodgy mod that I never knew about??
Reset button tends to be the popular place to setup these mods. Few other choices. Generally I suggest switched versions. In-game control of region and all that.
The reset button is known to break though, so it not working doesn't mean you have a mod. Open the system up, take and post pictures. If you see any wires going anywhere take a picture.
Here's the motherboard. As you can see to the left there are some wires on one of the chips. Not sure if this is a mod
I had the same issue with any game on my Nomad going to a cheap 3.5 " backup camera LCD screen. Off chance it could be the TV set you use? My screen was using composite too. Definitely something in the Genesis since the same issue popped up with several other genesis I have but yet it works on my Dreamcast.
