I had a bit of a disaster the other day. For reasons I'm not entirely clear on, my MD2 which has been working perfectly well for many years, died. It looks like there may have been a fault in the power supply, or a failure of the regulator, I'm not sure. However, the MD2 is dead. Unfortunately, my Everdrive was plugged in at the time. I've plugged it into my Japanese MD1 and I get the Sega licence screen, then a black screen. I am able to boot into the backup OS by holding ABC and have, everdrive OS loader v5 ram module v5 The options available are, repair OS and format SD. Either option produced no results on my Memory card (which appeared fine under Windows), I have since replaced the card. I copied all my original files and folders onto the new card and tried repair OS. This resulted in the file directory reappearing and I am able to navigate through the folders again and select games. However, every game I select gives: ERROR: incorrect file size. Also, on restarting my system, the file structure doesn't appear, and will only appear again if I boot into the backup OS. Have I fried my Everdrive?
something wrong with your fat system. if cart is dead, then you will see only black screen. i wonder which OS version you install?
I have os v29 installed, I bought as part of a group buy on Amibay, and zetr0 upgraded all the cards at the same time to the latest OS. It was perfectly fine until a few days ago when the power surge, or whatever it was happened. I am able to, via the backup OS, navigate to the os_v29 binary on the memory card and run through the OS upgrade, however, it doesn't seem to make any difference. Also, if I go through the format routine, it is able to find and identify the memory cards, go through the process of formatting, but the end result is an untouched card as all the files and folders are still in place. I have used 3 different memory cards, 2 of which have come from my working SNES everdrive and N64 Everdrive (big fan of your products BTW) but some are not even recognised or found, or produce the same results as before.
here is video where you can see how repair and format process should be. http://youtu.be/AMDLMGHJSwg try to put the only file on your SD card (OSV29.bin) and try to install this file via repair menu. try few times if without succes
OK, My format appears exactly the same as in your video. However, when I repair OS I get update... then ok. Then it locks up and I have to reset the system. I still get no menu. I have tried 2 different SD cards, one Kingston and one PNY, both 2Gb and working in other everdrives. I have tried both cards at least 4 times with no results. os-v29.bin is the only file on the card, and is in the root directory. I wonder if the binary has been corrupted?
if you can see "OK" it is not good by the fact. if update was finished with success, your system should be rebooted automatically, and you should see new OS, like in video. try to reinstall os untill repair tool will not reboot your cart automatically. not need to reformat SD, just reinstall
I have tried re-installing the OS over 15 times in the last 30 minutes and am still getting the; message unfortunately. I will keep trying, but it doesn't look hopeful.
It's a Rev 2.4 board. I'll send you a PM with some details. Thank you. Not sure if PM works for me just yet, as it didn't appear to send anything just now, I'll send you an email using the address on your webpage.
I posted this out to you on Friday, hopefully it should arrive this week. Let me know when it turns up.
