    Specs:
    Genesis 1 w/ S-video & RCA stereo & region switch mods.
EverDrive MD: OS 29, Firmware 9, Megakey off, File System FAT16/FAT32, Console Region USA NTSC, CD-ROM no, dir size: 250, SMS key: not pressed

    Problem:

When I updated the OS to 29 in late February 2012 (I'm not sure what rev it was before, but it was quite old...), now, (usually) when I select a .SMD file to load, the EverDrive MD says that it's loading an SMS file, & then, after loading, I get a blank screen. In some cases, it does recognize the .SMD file as an MD game & it loads OK.

These .SMD files *should* be Genesis games. Example: Target Earth. That's a Genesis/MD game, not an SMS game, but when I load the .SMD file for Target Earth, the EverDrive thinks it's an SMS game.

    Help! Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    -Jason

rom recognized as SMS if cart can't read "SEGA" word in rom header. bad rom, corrupted file or fat system

Thanks--I'll try reformatting the card & putting the same files back onto the card & see if that changes the behavior.

Jason, I recommend you to try all rom versions from the GoodGen set for each game.
Probably, you'll have the same problem with Phelios. In that case you need the [H2C] version. I have Target Earth on my Everdrive MD and it works fine, however, I don't remember which version I'm using. I can PM it to you if you need.

why are there so many different versions of the same rom in these rom sets? i understand sometimes it has to do with region or revision, but sometimes it the exact same rom with 5 different versions of it.
