it was suggested I ask here from my thread in General gaming.

I'm considering getting a Retron 3 and I was wondering if any of the ever drives work on it

It's not recommended. I do know NES PowerPak is very bad with clones, only a certain variation of a certain model works. It doesn't help that most of the clones don't work with games like CastleVania 3.

I think the Retron 3 works with Castlevania 3 at least the newer models do, But the genesis part won't work with Viruta Racing still.

Impossible to say for sure, cuz clone makers always change their hardware

    Fixed.

Clones are garbage. Buy the real hardware. I do recall you saying you had an issue with space or something and liked the idea of one console playing like 3 systems but unfortunately these compatibility issues and quality issues are how you pay for that. I had a clone Famicom once. I noticed quality issues with it and eventually sold it. They aren't worth it.

Problem is, old hardware will eventually die off. Someone has to keep producing consoles, as long as they are fully compatible. Else, classic gaming will only live through circle accurate emulation, such as bsnes.

yeah, old hardware will eventually die off, but till then we can enjoy them. also playing old hardware will save them from dying, because if people don't play them, they usually end up in garbage.
