Hi, I have gotten my everdrive and was looking forward to playing Earthbound but when I tried to play it I got a message saying it couldnt be played on my system. I am using a PAL system and was tring to play the US rom. If I buy a converter will this overcome the problem? If so which is the best converter to buy?
Don't waste your money on a converter. What you need is to patch the rom image to run on a PAL system. According to Motzilla on another thread, this can be done using a utility called UCON64. I can't test this out since I only have NTSC consoles, but here's a link to the thread. (it's the header editing thread that is stickied at the top of this forum. The last 2 posts discuss patching earthbound for PAL) http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...-and-Terranigma-header-editing-on-games/page2 edit: Another program called snestool also has a "fix for pal" feature. You could also try using that.
Thanks vey much Pablo. I will try and see if I can sort it. i am not great with technical things tho.
Or just google/search to find this ROM from the GoodSNES set. Earthbound (U) [f1+C] Or you might try this one. Earthbound (U) [f1]
Earthbound (U) [f1+C] Is working, thanks for the advice guys. is there any difference in this version to the origional?
No, just the regional lockout and maybe copy protection scheme are cracked. It will play just like the real cartridge.
