Does anyone know where I can pick one of these up at a good price, just bought an N64 on ebay and thought I'd get one and realised they are a bit pricey. are they region locked? sorry if my noobieness is making you feel mildly ill.
ummm i have no idea if they are region locked but there is quiet a few on ebay atm but boxed ones are harder to come by cheaply
thanks guys, didnt realise google woulda come up with the region question thought it was quite a technical thing.
Amazing what a piece of fiberglass and two RAMBUS chips will go for on eBay. I've been tempted to clone them but I've yet to find appropriate chips.
I was a bit annoyed paying that, but it sounds like I'd have been more annoyed if I knew what you know =D
I had lots of luck when I purchased my N64 consoles, in 3 out of 4 the expansion pak was already installed
Yeah the trick is to buy bundles with the paks still in the consoles. Most people forget that they're there. I know I do.
-would be good to have one already in the N64 I bought, will have to wait til it arrives. Yeah the trick is to buy bundles with the paks still in the consoles. Most people forget that they're there. I know I do. -I didnt realise they were so costly til after I bought my N64 =S
If you knew what I knew about the world you'd probably be greatly annoyed daily. Thing is, the expansion pak is VERY simple so I have to wonder how the 3rd parties managed to botch it.
It seems like you answered your own question though. Ebay is full of pirates and highway robbery. Occationally you see really funny ones like "ULTRA SUPER RARE GYROMITE LAST CHANCE $50 RESERVE". Come to think of it you can probably kick one all the way up to 10MB without an issue, though one would wonder why. Well, some carts scale memory allocations though...
So ignorance is bliss =D they maybe just dont take any care or buy extremly poor/cheap parts or maybe a bit of both?
Agreed, luckily the guy whom I purchased my N64 that I use threw the expansion pack in for free since I've been a customer of his since I was in the 2nd grade.. I'm 20 now, lol.. Long story short, he ran a booth at a local flea-market, and my grandmother managed a booth up there for my great uncle, so I was there a lot during the weekends. I've even referred a few people I've spoken with in his shop to this site since they were looking for specific titles that I knew he wouldn't have, no clue if they actually joined though.
