I recently found this video where someone mods a NES to play the extra sounds that are on FDS games. My question is though, if I do this, will it

    A. Also work with a real FDS, or only the PowerPak?
    B. Is there a purpose to the on/off switch? Nothing changes in non FDS games and only adds to the games that do have the audio, correct?

    Thanks!

(Maybe this should be moved to the Hacks and Mods thread? Sorry about that.)

I haven't/won't watch the video but I know there's no purpose a switch, if there's audio it'll play, if not, it won't. Basically you just need to add a resistor to work as a mixer. Adding a potentiometer into the mix will allow you to control the volume. If you want audio from real Famicom carts, you will need to add a wire from the "audio to Famicom" pin to the equivalent NES pin on your adapter.
