I recently found this video where someone mods a NES to play the extra sounds that are on FDS games. My question is though, if I do this, will it A. Also work with a real FDS, or only the PowerPak? B. Is there a purpose to the on/off switch? Nothing changes in non FDS games and only adds to the games that do have the audio, correct? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z507PxcLjs Thanks! (Maybe this should be moved to the Hacks and Mods thread? Sorry about that.)
I haven't/won't watch the video but I know there's no purpose a switch, if there's audio it'll play, if not, it won't. Basically you just need to add a resistor to work as a mixer. Adding a potentiometer into the mix will allow you to control the volume. If you want audio from real Famicom carts, you will need to add a wire from the "audio to Famicom" pin to the equivalent NES pin on your adapter.
