Hi guys, i want to extract the midi from GT1 (pal/ntsc-u version), because, i love the music of manifacturer cars! (god bless jason page and your music!) How i can do it? Thanks in advance P.S sorry my bad english!
If it uses the standard formats, they'll likely be in .SEQ format (which is a modified and will require both the .VH and .VB files to be extracted - basically the larger of the two files contains the soundfont and there may be multiple ones. The smaller file handles the timing. They generally will be matched up unless there's only one soundfont file in which case you'd need to use that and the timing files. You should be able to use something simple like VGMToolbox to make the PSF files and then convert from that via the Highly Experimental plugin (Winamp or Foobar2000) to whatever audio format you want. If you want to get them converted to MIDI then you could use SEQ2MIDI though there was another one that could convert the files that I'm currently forgetting the name of. If they don't sound right then you may need to do some manual tweaking. There may be other files in .XA format - easy to rip and convert. You could have some audio in other formats which could come up upon insertion within a computer or a CD player but it's not very common. If they're in archives then you may need to do a bit of hex editing to deal with the archive format if they're custom. If the audio files for the music are custom then unless it's been documented prior then you may need to do everything manually and the above is really only relevant for the standard formats.
Sorry for late reply . Lamont Thanks for the answer . I'm not an expert in programming languages and so on . The only tool that I use is the PSound but be extracted only the tools of MIDI , not all MIDI . How do I extract the files .SEQ ? Thanks again in advance .
PSound will only pull the files out of the soundfont itself (the game's soundbank is what is being found) - not the actual sequences/MIDI files that you're after and often the soundbanks may use multiple frequencies so the sounds may not all come out correctly via PSound (on top of PSound having an annoying glitch too). You need to likely poke around the game's directories and see if they're sitting there or for the easiest way if they're likely standard format is to use VGMToolbox. Only get the raw .zip and/or .rar file from the site, don't use the SourceForge file manager to be on the safe side. Rip files from the game disc (try using MagicISO to copy files over exactly to your computer) and in VGMToolbox go to Streams, PSF and it will have additional options to locate .SEQ, .VB and .VH files that can then be used to rebuild the tracks enclosed in .PSF containers. But if you have it set to "try all matches of instruments and timing files" then you will likely need to sift through each track with either Winamp or Foobar2000 with the Highly Experimental plugin to play the PSF files and from either of the media players, you can then convert them out to whatever audio format you want them in. This is if you want to do a "game music rip", if you just want MIDI files then you need to locate the .SEQ files (instruments won't be included) either manually or with something like VGMToolbox and extract them. Then use SEQ2MIDI to convert it to a MIDI file you can then import and edit in audio sequencing software like Reaper, FL Studio, LMMS... etc.
Hey Lamont, thanks so much again for answer me. I've tried with Vgmtoolbox, go Misc.tools>xsftool>PSF. Strangely, did not find anything . Both with PSF date finder that with the "easy PSF driver extractor" . Says " Extracting PSF Date ... complete " but there is no rip . Here is a picture about the program . And here there is a screenshot of Game's TOC : I do not think that .exe files are useful or with some sound. The only one who seems appropiate ( controlled PSound ) is the sound.dat . But strangely makes no rip . Something wrong ? Lamont .... you've ever tried to extract sounds of Gran Turismo ? Thanks a lot , man. ; ) And sorry for the delay !
Have you tried poking around the files with a disassembler? Easier to see where the files are located, what formats are the types used. Occasionally it works out best to split larger archive files at particular points so the extractor can locate the actual files. I haven't tried it on Gran Turismo and I don't think I have a copy of it floating around the house at the moment and if I do then it would be the PAL version... Sorry for the delayed response, my internet has been on the fritz.
Thank again , Lamont. I surrendered to the moment , it is too difficult to extract the midi sequence of GT1 . Rather the problem is the fact that I have not time . I hope some good soul you try !! : 3 maybe I will be back farther
