Does anyone know of any real rare or proto carts for this bad boy that are known to exist? I have a source where I can get about every Channel F game ever made (with the possible exception of the Zircon ones) and I want to know if there are any super-collector's items I should be on the watch for.
I don't know very much about Channel F, but it has to have some sort of colelctor's value, being the first cartridge system.
According to the Digital Press online database, the rarest are the 2 US demostration carts, followed by some of the Normende, Saba & Luxor games. Having said that, just about anything is pretty hard to find though I'm not sure if there's huge numbers of hardcore collectors. The DP forums probably contain one of two, though.
If you check out the FAQ , it looks like there's not that many carts. It also has an interesting variant guide. Perhaps, if you can get them cheap, its worth going for a set? I guess it all depends on how much space you have, how much spare cash, and what you think of the system!
There aren't any really rare carts by Fairchild other than the two Demo carts. The rare ones were all put out by Zircon (Checkers, Football, Poker, etc.) There is supposed to be a keyboard cart (pictured in one advertisement) that allowed you to hook up some sort of keyboard to the Channel F, but no one has found a prototype to date. A test (diagnostic) cart of some sort may also exist. Tempest
