So, I have received my second famicom. Now, from the seller it states that it was in working order. I get a snowy picture. Tried a couple RF Adapters I have laying around and same thing. I've also tried a VCR and did not work. I know the Famicom is extremely dirty and in need of a cleaning. Just haven't gotten the time to actually clean the motherboard and don't think rubbing alcohol will do the trick. Any ideas?

Why are you using RF adapters? Can't you just use an RF cable?

I meant to say I was using a NES RF Cable. I am suspecting my own cable is broken. Trying to save money.

Don't use an RF switch. Get a RCA female to coax (F-Connector) male plug and a high quality RCA cable then connect it to your TV/VCR. It's much better quality. You need to set the console to channel 1 or 2 and your TV/VCR to channel 95 or 96. If you have radio broadcasters near you broadcasting on the frequencies the Famicom uses (I think 95.something and 106.something), then it will mess up the image. It is also possible your devices can't tune to the Famicom's exact frequencies or close to it.

So, something like this for RCA Female to Coax (F-Connector) male plug http://www.amazon.com/Coaxial-Adapter-Female-Male-Style/dp/B000AAL4PA
    and something like this http://www.amazon.com/CableWholesales-Quality-channel-Gold-plated-Connectors/dp/B000I1IG8Y

    Making sure before I buy.

That first link is a RCA male to coax female. This is what I meant: RCA female to Coax male

That RCA audio cable in the second link will work.

Many thanks. I'll see if work has the cables or a different store near me. If not. I'll order right off of Amazon.

You're welcome. RadioShack should still have some if you have one near you. If you can solder, you can make a RCA to coax cable if you have some high quality cables lying around.

I think there is still a Radioshack near me.

I do solder, but my friend does a better job than me.

I think that US TVs have trouble with the Famicom's signal, so you might want to try it with every TV you own before calling it dead.

We do have issues with them. Many TVs support channels 95/96 but don't support the exact frequency the Famicom is using. This causes humming/buzzing and artifacts or no picture at all in some cases. HDTVs need to have the channels added manually via the TV's settings. Many CRTs don't support them at all.

The Famicom is also within range of our FM radio signals so that causes issues too. This is why it's highly recommended to mod it for Composite Video, install NESRGB, or the new Hi Def NES (NESHD) HDMI mod if you want to use it without issues here.

With a 3rd party RF Adapter. I was able to pick up radio signal when I would turn off my sega genesis. NES RF, not so much. Same goes for the famicom. I'll have to order a famicom game, give it to my friend to do the AV mod.

Or you can get a Famicom AV, they're much nicer and support NES peripherals.

But then no mic support. :(

A Turbo Twin Fami with NESRGB or NESHD would be best since you get great video, the disk system, and -wait for it- the mic! The turbo twin has 6 foot controller cables from what I've seen too.

It's very tempting. Looks nicer imo. Only thing that is a killer is the Japan shipping.

Twin Famicom seems like a better idea with the added FDS support.

Yep. It was my 60pin to 72pin cartridge converter. The converter I bought from stone age gamer was a older version that was not spose to work with certain motherboards.
