Programmable cartridge. The round holes are meant to allow for UV erasing. The switches on the cartridge should allow for bank change (1/2) and mirroring type (Horizontal or Vertical).

Mirroring is related to how the address lines are connected into the video memory bus and changes the arrangement of tiles on the screen versus the written addresses on the video ram memory.

This reminds me of Dactar 4in1 cartridges for the Atari2600.

Thanks to all for the info! How do i change the games then?

More photos of the cart open and working.

What's the value of something like this? just curious, NOT looking to sell. I paid quite a few bucks for it (HKD) and i hope i didn't overpay.

No actually you didn't have to take it apart, there were many stand-alone programmers. Here's an example of a Japanese one:

While it's neat due to uniqueness (I've never seen this design or even one from Taiwan like this), there are many many of these EPROM carts out there, and they're next to worthless in Japan. Because the parts cost is less than an average bootleg game and there's nothing intrinsically interesting about the circuit, I wouldn't estimate the value at more than $20. It's still considerably more than what a Bouken Jima boot or even loose legit cart is worth.
