    is the AC adapter that comes with the Super Famicom the same AC adapter that comes with the Famicom? I have a Super Famicom AC adapter and I'm wondering if I can use it on my Famicom. Thanks.

    Sorry, one other question. Does the Famicom Disk System use the same AC Adapter as the Famicom?

    Yup, the FC and SFC use identical AC adapters. The FDS' original AC adapter isn't EXACTLY the same, but they're close enough to be compatible. It's actually better to use the FC adapter because it runs cooler.

    Yes. As a matter of fact, the new AV Famicom didn't even come with an AC adaptor because Nintendo suggested to use the SFC adaptor instead. And people complain about lowered industry standards nowadays, hahah!

    No, it comes with a different AC adaptor, the HVC-025. It is 9VA and 400mA.

    The original Famicom's AC adaptor is the HVC-002 which supplies higher 18VA and 850mA.

    I never tried to use the Famicom adaptor on my Disk System, but you need to connect two AC adaptors at the same time anyway so I suppose you should just stick with the official ones. The same though, or at least very similar from what I remember.

    As far as I'm aware, unlike US NES and SNES, the Famicom AC adapter didn't get its plastic mold updated to mention newer hardware. (AV Famicom, Super Famicom Jr, and Virtual Boy AC taps, each shipped without an AC adapter)

    Of course that's hard to verify since I'm in the US...

    @Lum
    The HVC-002 never received an updated mold, but at some point (probably around '85), they added a sticker with the FF-logo.

    Anyways, when they started selling the HVC-002 seperately, at least the box had indications of compatibility with FC/SFC and VB as can be seen here:

    I'm not sure when this adaptor came out, though. Maybe 1995 because of the VB indication? I think there has not been a separate adaptor available by Nintendo before that because Hori pretty much captured the "AC adaptor demand" with its HA-7 (which I own and use).

    It's the same, when the super famicom came out it didn't include the ac adapter cause nintendo assumed most who were buying a super famicom already had a famicom so they would use the same ac adapter as they did with their famicom
