Anyone know where I can get this for under $35? Preferably for the 2500 yen list price... Also, does anyone here have it? I'm curious if it contains the game's release dates and HVC codes.
You won't be disappointed when you get that book, Kyuusaku, it's really a great reference, and the wonderful thing is that nearly everything in it is translated into more or less understandable English. So would it be possible to get that Sega history (can't remember the name) book from Amazon.co.jp as well? Can anyone provide me with the title so I can go look it up?
:smt043 No, no you haven't. Thanks for the link, this is what I was looking for! Kyuusaku: Yeah, I picked the book up from eBay this past spring, and it's really something. It's got pictures of nearly every Famicom/Famicom Disk System game or packaging ever made, as well as some fun things like the FDS vending machine or the Datel Joint Rom System. There are also a ton of interviews, with people like Shigeru Miyamoto (of course), Yuji Naka, Hideo Kojima, Shigesato Itoi, and a few of the guys that gave us the dubious pleasure of Pokemon. All in all, it's a great book, and I find it well worth the $35 I paid for it.
Sorry, was out most of the day. The book lists the release date, the original price, and the publisher for each game, but no HVC code, sorry.
Thanks! Hmm, that makes it sort of a difficult decision; quite a bit for only half the answers I'm looking for, lazy books. HVC codes are the hard thing to find :\ The pictures of every cart aren't good enough to make out the HVC are they?
Theres also another fantastic famicom book called fami complete. Its from the same makers as the japanese underground magazine Game lab. It comes in a 2 book boxed set & has pics of every japanese famicom & disk system game released. There is pics of every bit of hardware & acessories released as well. Also at the back has a full list of all the NES games as well but no pics for those, there is also a massive section listing cheats for hundreds of games. It's truely a goldmine of info for any famicom addict, no HVC codes though. Sadly its not cheap at 4500 yen and is quite hard to find now (I think amazon japan still have it in stock though) Here are a few pics. Sorry for the slightly blurry pics but i dont have acess to my scanner at the moment :smt023
Thats for the effort but I know about the Fami Complete set too. I don't see these books as being all that since I own/have seen/sold almost all the FC hardware out there (and probably 90% of the games)... I might just bite my lip, buy all the books, get my info, sell the books off again > Also, I didn't know that Fami Complete was by Game Lab I think I'm going to start a Backup Technique/Game Lab collection.
