It's gotten smarter than it was in the past... I have some older conversations i saved while it was still in beta. As someone who's done a lot of work with AI, i'm actually pretty impressed with Smarterchild.
http://smarterchild.conversagent.com/ Anybody here remember that purple gorilla A.I.... Bonzi Buddy? Ahhh, memories there.
If made some researches on my own, and i found hilarous dialogues between the both and someone else: http://www.pointsincase.com/aim_convos/battle_of_bots.htm http://www.pointsincase.com/aim_convos/smarterchild.htm http://www.pointsincase.com/aim_convos/smarterchild2.htm http://www.pointsincase.com/aim_convos/meet_deaferchild.htm http://www.pointsincase.com/aim_convos/smarterchild_to_america.htm you really need to read that! (edit: Damn, Seems like i try to hi-jack the thread... :-banghead: just want to enhance it mate.;-))
Yeah, I was about to say, that Bonzi Buddy was just a boatload of spyware. The entertainment value lasted about 2 minutes, the spyware lasts much much longer. Edit: back on topic: I agree that smarterchild has improved although I can't say I've used it in a while.
sadly, having a conversation with the smartchild is actually more cohherent than most convo's i've had with real people.... Ryan
The syn and def commands are kind of cool. The conversational AI hasn't noticeably changed particularly since the first one of these I saw online back in ~1997 (which had pretty impressive facial animation too). It doesn't really have any conversational comprehension/memory beyond each sentence, so it spends most of it's time either avoiding your questions or asking you questions in retort.
