    Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to switch out the stock gamecube fan for an LED one? Or if there was a guide to show me how to add LED lights into the gamecube? I believe the fan is 50mm x 50mm but can't find any of that size. Would a 40mm or 60mm suffice? Hope someone can help since I can't find any information on google. Thanks.

No need to replace the fan, just tap into the front led power on the controller port and hot glue an led to the back of the fan (you'll make a small hole for the wires)

    Hint: 40x40 < 50x50

Meaning it probably won't fit. The fan is also mounted within a frame of sorts that you'd have to contend with. Is it really necessary to make a cube as bright as the sun at all hours though?

I just think it would look cooler and would be a little fun project for the summer. To mod out my gamecube.

For tapping the LED power would that mean the tapping the same as the power LED that shows when the gamecube is on?

Tap power from anywhere you can find the voltage you need. Probably a few dozen connections all over the place near the fan.

Why bother? GameCube don't get hot.

Sorry for the late reply, for some reason I wasn't able to connect to this site for the longest time.

I'm really new to the soldering/modding game so when you mean "tap" do you mean something like soldering one wire to the 12v line and one to the LED? Then chain the ground throughout or can I do that for both the voltage and the ground? I was googling last night for some more information but all I could find is that the red wire is a 12v line where I can tap and the black is the ground but that I should also use a resistor. Where do I have to solder the resistor in and how many ohms of a resistor do I need to use? Hope you can help thanks!

Also, the reason why I'm modding this gamecube is because I think it would be fun and rewarding, at least to me that is.
