Hi there, I'm going to be buying a ViewPad 10 it only has a 16GB SSD which is pretty much perfect, I don't go over that anyway for my Netbook. But if I wanted to run a program that is stored on a microSD card which would be the best choice? I'm looking for a card that's great value and anything from 4GB upwards.

    Thanks

I'd say you need to make sure you get genuine memory with a fast speed.
Most of the cheap cards are falsely labeled as high speed.

Typically the cheap cards ARE their class rating or just below and the more reputable brands (SanDisk comes to mind personally, Kingston too despite some of their recent problems) typically rate their cards at or below their true rating. Meaning you can buy a class 4 and find it competes with class 6 cards rather well.

Of course, that doesn't help him as he's clearly filled out his profile and it says he's in England.

Amazon seems to be able to beat most of Newegg's prices these days which tends to make me flip flop over who to buy from. I'm a long time Newegg fan but I do like paying less. Since I'm in California I have to pay sales tax on anything Newegg ships me but I don't for Amazon. I'm sure this would be the total opposite situation for anyone living in a state for which Amazon charges sales tax.

Being in England though, Amazon isn't a half-bad choice even if you do have to pay sales tax. Might be able to find a French joint that will ship one over.

BTW, even with a Class 10 card you're looking at a rated spec of 10mb/s but according to this randomly selected Google result you're looking at a sequential read rate just short of 20mb/s and a mere 3.2mb/s for a 4kb read. I'd bet those are artificial benchmarks and real life ones will be different as well as being dependent on the quality of the reading device you're using. My laptop's built in SD slot reads a lot faster than the USB reader I got with another microSD card by a few fold.

Using current prices on Newegg a 16gb microSD card of the class 10 variety will cost you $102.99. For the sake of being shocked a 32gb microSD card is $104.99 but only class 4 in speed.

I would suggest upgrading the SSD if possible but after a rather lengthly google search I couldn't find any information on what kind of SSD it's using. I'd guess it might just be some NAND chips soldered directly to the PCB. Regardless most reviews seem to point at it having slow sequential reads. I'd definitely suggest going with the class 10 cards if possible.
