i bought my sega genesis model 1 from goodwill, and it has these weird errors... it does this even if it has no cartridge in it... i dont know if it has bad capacitors, or if its fried... i need help...
i can get a picture of the motherboard if that would help? and by the way, there is no sound, just a weird buzzing ish sound... i am looking at the board and there is no cxa1645...
umm the adapter is some generic crap... dc 9v 850mA and the only sound is just weird fuzz/ grumbling...
And 9v 850 ma is a bit weak for a model 1. Might want to track down a proper adapter before looking any further.
You or someone else previously may have damaged it if you used the wrong power supply that used center postive OR if it outputted AC and not DC. Always use the proper power supply. Too many people think that if the PSU can be plugged in they are all the same. They're not. Many systems get damaged because of simply neglecting to use a proper power supply. It depends how the system is designed inside when it comes to what might be damaged if the wrong power supply was used.
The genesis is designed to have good chances of survival if you accidentally connect the wrong adapter but that is still not something you wanna do. I accidentally connected a NES ac brick in my model 1 once, it survived but its stressful for the hardware.
Its funny because it was an attempt to solve the issue with the Master System. But I am still wondering why either of those had a center negative connector at all since almost every other adapter I've seen for electronics is the other way around. They did finally switch around with the Model 2 fortunately.
