I have to say my all time favorite is DragonBall Z. I've watched it ever since I could remember! It's been a while now since the last time I 've watched an episode though...
Akira. First anime I ever saw and I liked every minute of it. Animation was great and top of the line at its time. My uncle had it in LD format and it was quite an experience for me back then watching that on his projection TV.
FLCL!!! it's so f-ed up, just love it. just so sad that it is so short. it got like everything and a bit more
Fist of the North Star TV. Head explosions caused by martial arts for the win, and an awesome theme song or three. YOU WA SHOCK!
Lol, that was one of the first anime I saw. Definately one of those funny-for-the-wrong-reasons shows!
Ronin Warriors, or "Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers" () is the only anime I've ever liked. I don't know why, but most anime just can't keep my attention.
FLCL ray: cause it's absolutely lunatic, weird and psycho plus the great ost. Second GTO cause he is the coolest bast@rd and finally Gankutsuou cause monte kristo ownzzz [hates his guts ray:]
Ghost in the Shell. Has action but is well thought out and makes you think. I also believe that technology-wise it is a glimpse of our future.
Good to hear there are some other FLCL fans here, I must have watched the dvds about a hundred times. Probably my all time favorite is Cowboy Bebop (I know... everyone says that) but I remember when I first saw it, I went right out and bought the box set even though I had only seen one episode. The most recent addition to my collection that I've really been digging is "Last Exile". I just love this anime, has everything... great animation, good story, interesting characters. I definitely reccomend checking it out if you haven't seen it yet.
Don't really watch anime as a rule, but Metropolis is definatly my favourite film, and Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 favourite series.
- Always liked Bubblegum Crisis, not so much the 2040 series. - Gunbuster was fun, but seemed to just end too suddenly. - GateKeepers was cheesy but great. 21 was much darker but still a good series on its own. - The Slayers was hillarious at times. It's a shame that each progressive series lost more and more of the fun. And what the hell did they do with the movies? - Final Fantasy Unlimited was booooring. Though both my wife (who was reading at the time) and I completely lost it at the end of the first episode when they started to play the battle ending theme...
If Aeon Flux counts, i'd call that my fav... but probably not. Otherwise, for shows i'd have to throw it to Macross or there's a pretty cool show on Nickelodeon (don't ask) called Avitar. For movies it's a tie between Akira and Tank Commander.
Record of Lodoss War (Both of them): Very awesome fantasy anime King of Bandit Jing: It's an odd show, but I like it a lot FullMetal Alchemist: Very strange, but very interesting. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before.
I liked the first and second season of Digimon. The rest were kind of boring. I havent really watched much Anime due to the fact that I dont have CN nor do I buy many Anime DVDs. I watched all of the Evangelion series, but parts are too pessimistic. I'll probably get more into Anime when I get CN and mo' money.
Yeah, I'm a FLCL fan too. I've been inspired to buy the magna, which is hard to follow but still pretty good. I'm not really much of an anime fan, but I've been getting into Naturo lately. I like the way the battle scenes play out, although it still has a bit of the "Dragon Ball-lag" going on (you know, where the two guys have to talk to each other and explain each other's techniques and such instead of just fighting. I've always wondered if in real life ninjas/samurai/kung fu people really stood around shooting the shit like that before a duel? Becasue in real life you'd think you'd just attack and get it over with.) Favorite film of late has to be Princess Mononoke, or Appleseed, both of which are top notch. FF: Advent children was also pretty fucking crazy.
Here's another vote for FLCL, and Cowboy Bebop. I'm also quite fond of Excel Saga and Blackjack. Mononoke Hime would be my favorite feature film though.
