I want to study in an area that gets snow and has a lot of those festivals with kimono girls and the girls with white tape around their boobies whoever they are. They're those drummers. But that's not their title.
Somewhere near the Ohenro pilgrimage and a lot of forest, mountains and whatever. I just don't want a concrete jungle if I can avoid it. I imagine this place actually exists.

What's your favorite part of Japan? and give reasons.

 too true. I don't know about a 2nd best place though. Hmm, when I was in my 20's it would have been Tokyo for sure but now I'd probably stick with Hokaido since it's basically like the UK as far as countryside goes.

    LMAO gaijin

I mean as far as scenery and culture go. What's your favorite?

As you know America has no culture, we have Frankensteined from every group that came our way, screwed them over and took what we liked.
Ie. stole indians land, forced irish into our military for citizenship, black slaves.

I hate my roommates, so the sooner I have something to look forward to the better.:banghead:

I'm a city whore. Tokyo it is.

If I give him 5000 yen will he go beat the shit out of a woman for me? The first time I've gotten ripped off on Yahoo Japan. Cunt lives in Oita.

No, he well, he's put the pussy on a pedestal... sorry.

Tokyo's too concrete for my taste, like San Francisco. I want the classic 1880's japan. Samurai, Geisha, and Perry oh my! I want a beautiful unpaved scene of majesty to gawk at. Like where Tenchi lives in Tenchi Muyo or the place in Princess Mononoke.

Real-life Japan isn't actually like an anime series, you know.

Kyoto looks really traditional and has lots of temples/shrines. If you want 1880's Japan though, why don't you just go to Toyko and watch Lady Snowblood from time to time? We have 2008 now and thats how it is :p

    ave:Damn I'm 128 years too late:shrug:

I've watched more jdramas than anime in the past month and I really want to see the Japan displayed in 100 tales of horror. I'm not retarded or otaku, I just want what I can't have.

Lady Snowblood looks like it should've stayed a manga it kind of looks like Shadow kage... I can always find a whore in Tokyo right? Then I can creep her out by making her be my geisha... lol:033:

Nobody can. "Old Japan" is gone. They constantly rip the ass out of the landscape as a means to fight unemployment.

Is it urban and suburban sprawl that's taking the landscape? So, do you think in about 200 years all Japanese wilderness will only exist in small pockets of nature preserves? Maybe the islands will start sinking:crying:
I need to get my ass over there sooner or later

No, it's all types of bullshit they're putting in the middle of nowhere:
    -Roads that nobody drives on
    -Tunnels nobody goes through
-Trains only 8 people per year ride
-"Support" for mountains that aren't falling
-And "happy trees" which replace real, natural ones that have been there for centuries.

If you want to see the "old Japan", you must go to Nikko, Kyoto or Okinawa, for example.

I love Koga in Ibaraki for several reasons, the first is that my gf lives here and her family own lots of farm land (so I'm never short on Rice, Aubergines, Onions, Potatos, Leeks, Daikon, Peppers, Crisps, Tofu, Miso, Soba, Sake, Herbs and lots of other things).

It's also on the border of 4 prefectures, so its easy to get to Ibaraki, Saitama, Tochigi and Gunma in less then 10 minutes (in fact you can go down one road and end up in all 4 of them).

It's also in farmland country so there are lots of farms, small towns and villages and it7s a lovely area to cycle round. :)

I have to say Tokyo also.

Yet there's no word to say how I love "traditionnal" Japan and bucolic places. And maybe my best moments in Japan were when I was in countryside.

But Tokyo is like a drug. It's the most exciting place I know I think. It's not just a town,it's a whole world.

Regarding the landscape destruction, there are a lot of places which are not buildable in this country. So anyways, man's expansion in Japan is limited and a lot of places will stay virgin and well-preserved.
