I just finished a DS and I want to go onto another DS game (it's my gf's DS but I have to play something since my friend is borrowing my 3DS). So what are some good DS games? And lets make this fun, to really make you think hard, don't list a game that someone has already listed!
games where the devs actually gave a piss about hardcore gamers with hand-eye co-ordination issues and didn't force touch screen to play. like this gem: (and contra IV. no, not a cheap shot at the uk/usa/iran weapons scandal. honest!) :witless: Nintendo DS Longplay [002] Metroid Prime Pinball wouldn't mind the ost to this pup! good thing about MP-pinball is you can sync to other ds's for in-house mp action, with or without ANY secondary/auxiliary cartridges (works from a romfile too, sweet!) but me mates are fuckin GLEEBOS and won't go simultaneous 2-4UP on anything. .. there's xevious 3-dg, but i preferred the coin-op/ps version tbh. (another game the devs cared)
^^ my mistake, been playing on coin-op. was thinking of a pair of other similar games. (same style of shooter, and 3d gfx) ... castlevania is okay, to a point...then it FOISTS the touch screen at unfair points, like a boss finish move. don't pull it off, can't advance in game...so i let friends daughter do the touch screen shit, shes a star! :smile-new: [edit] nanostray 1 and 2. there it is. :witless:
They're mediocre and I'm sure this will be the worst suggestion, but I enjoy Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Being a Pokemon instead of commanding them is fun for me, and although it's repetitive it doesn't get old for me quickly.
Kirby: Canvas Curse is, in my opinion, the best Nintendo DS game ever developed. Its just perfect for the system, amazing gameplay, great artwork. Nintendo DS looks like designed for this game. Nanashi no Game. Best portable horror game ever done. And the best dual-3D screens game so far (there are only a few games that render 3D in both screens). Nanashi no Game Me is a good choice too. Houkago Shounen. Prettiest adventure i've ever seen. But its mostly unplayable in Japanese. Unsolved Crimes. Pretty fun game with good touch mechanics. Twilight Syndrome. Good port from Playstation, scary game, can be played in Japanese, except a single kanji-stuff minigame, you need a guide for this. Pull Pull Pulpy. A fun Nintendo congress-seminar game. And much more, i just cant remember right now.
Why not? I don't have the patience for Mystery Dungeon games, and anything to make it more fun for children gets plus in my book. I prefer the regular Pokemon games, Ace Attorney, Layton (which requires you to have passed Algebra II), and Retro Game Challenge.
The regular Pokemon games are just about guaranteed to give you a lot of game for your money, you can easily put over 50 hours into them.
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence was a solid port. Pretty sure it had an alternative play mode as well for people who had already played RE1 to death. Also the Asphalt GT games were pretty fun, even though they were glorified mobile games.
The core Pokemon games are better, but I like that PMD let's you be ANY of the gen 4 and earlier Pokemon. The core Pokemon games are often said to be the same thing with better visuals. This is only true if you only fight the Elite Four and quit playing there. The real improvements (and fun) are usually only seen if you real dive into the nuances of the combat system instead of winning by being higher leveled. Gen 4 and 5 have awful graphics for a AAA game. I yearned for a fully 3D Pokemon game on DS and Nintendo didn't deliver.
Kirby Canvas Curse All Phoenix Wrights Hotel Dusk & Last Window Chronos Twins - really good use of the two screens. Wario Ware Touched! - probably my second least favorite in the series (Wii one was the worst), but it is still a great game. Wario Ware DIY is a more worthy entry, but it's real fun comes from making your own games.
The World Ends With you is probably my favorite DS game, other then remakes of Chrono Tigger, and the Dragon Quest games
I am surprise that Zelda get no mention? Even I wont mention it here. (Using stylus to move around when directional pad is available?, come on Nintendo!) Mario Kart is good for playing with friends, not really good when playing alone. Resident Evil DS got my backing =)
Haven't touched ST but PH is very weak as a Zelda game. Not awful if you ignore the Zelda pedigree, but you won't miss much if you skip it.
