Onitsuka Chihiro is my favorite Japanese singer, and I don't like Japanese music all that much. Her newer stuff is too J-poppy and happy, but her older stuff was darker. I saw her at a show in Tokyo before she disappeared, which is good, because when she reappeared 3 years later, her style changed for the worse.
