Just wondering what your favourite game intro is? These days it's rare to come across a game with a lengthy FMV intro, I think the Playstation was one of the best consoles for this. My two top fave have got to be. Ridge Racer Type 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMZ872rsa90 C&C Red Alert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R6xCWcf_VU
The ones i remember right now Gran Turismo 2 (Japanese): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC2qKy-WMf4 Gran Turismo 4 (Japanese) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93RHgFmqOkI Soul Edge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTFLRhV2vI8 Wild Arms http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bEsv7IXLbg Kilzone 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2-swSqw2pY EDITED: Forgot about GT5 =p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgGLmp6Pw2w
Mine would most certainly include the following: Wild Arms Chrono Cross Metal Gear Solid 2 Zone of the Enders 2 Dragon Quest 8 (I felt chills when I heard the rendition of the Dragon Quest theme on this one) Lunar SSSC Super Metroid (not really an FMV intro, but the intro design was pretty cool) Final Fantasy VI (see above) Ace Combat 04 Final Fantasy X (the beginning of the game, not really the "intro" of it)
Conkers BFD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDQzJfqSUKQ (^ unfortunately missing the N64 logo being chopped up... the balls on Rare for that game, honestly.)
Definitely in my top 5 are; Samurai Spirits IV - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfrKcfj62rU The King of Fighters '95 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrX3nHtIy1E Not amazing or clever by any stretch of the imagination but they just hold a special place with me
I loved the intro to Sunsoft's "Freedom Force" (NES lightgun game). Very impressive stuff for the NES back in 1987
Has to be RE-code veronica, still whip this out from time to time for a playthrough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0MNzy2eV7I
Rival Schools: United by Fate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3jjIp6mmgY From the same artist who's rensonsible for the opening of Ashita no Joe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nffs31UYKTc&playnext=1&list=PL27569FAB16D1D23B
OOooh! That Rival Schools one brings back serious memories. I loved that game on the PSX. I was recalling Wild Arms, and also Wild Arms 2 and Wild Arms 3 have awesome intros. 3 is especially cool because it was dynamic and changed with the story. Man, those games were the epitome of late 90s and early 2000s coolness. That being said, I really like the opening to Tales of Vesperia. I think this is mostly due to the fact that it makes me feel a lot like when I was playing those older games with anime FMV intros.
Torico Gekka Mu Gen Tan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywAWhJwxGlM Shining Force III scenario 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSwfjjE6E38 And for sheer insanity (it never fails to crack me up) Funky Head Boxers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyluOzMq59s
Guardian Heroes (Saturn) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hJLOZHDcZw Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50Xi-Orj2fg
Epic fail I quite like the intro to Grand Theft Auto 2 - it stands out more than any other game, particularly because t is live action and not in-game or CGI footage and it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Byw1DKLy7Zw
I have to give kudos to Square for their intros. Kingdom Hearts I/II, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Final Fantasy series all have execellent intros. I also have to give credit to Namco as well since they also have great intros for series like Soul Calibur, Tekken and Ace Combat.
My mind is going blank on some of my favorite gaming intros so instead I will list a more recent game that I thought had a sick intro. Dead Space 2. Also good choice on the GTA 2 Legit. Brings back memories.
MGS 2 and Final Fantasy 7 have pretty memorable intros, as does FF 8. Current favorite intro is FF 13.
