I still don't know why everyone hates Linkin Park. I'm no diehard fan, but I think they sound okay... The Halo movie is guaranteed to suck, though. The story wasn't so hot in the first place.
They could just reuse the Halo 2 OST - between the hard rock of Marty O'Donnell's original stuff and the additions by Breaking Benjamin, Hoobastank, and Incubus, it's practically a movie soundtrack waiting to happen. I enjoyed Hybrid Theory and absolutely love Reanimation from Linkin Park, btw, but Meteora and the band's current direction cater far too much to the "nobody understands me, I'm so alone, everyone's trying to keep me down" angsty teenage mentailty that's all too popular in modern rock today. Like I said, I love Reanimation though.
Lots of money, a fast production rushed into theaters (I'm assuming to cash in on anticipation for Halo 3) and a script written solely by Bungie's team of game developers, which, imho, couldn't even come up with a very solid plot for the second Halo game... sounds like one expensive task that may weaken the series rather than strengthen it. Speaking of which, did anyone ever hear about whether the original "Halo" development team was even staying with Bungie? I remember hearing rumors that they were leaving to join their former boss from the first Halo who has since started his own company. Sorry, I know that's a little off topic, just thought I'd mention it.
I don't dislike Linkin Park per-say......but they do have that sort of reputation to go with this type of enterprise.
I like Meteora as much as the first album, but it was a bit whiny for me... The Halo movie will still suck .
Ah, but we all felt like that when we were in our teens. Some of us went hippie conspirators, some of us went goth, some of us went pothead and some of us went angry geek - but at some point, being somethingteen really felt like those lyrics.
