Thought I'd mention that I was featured in an article for the May issue of BPM Magazine. I just got my copy today (really late). Here's a link to the article, it's 400K though so be forwarned that it just a big scan. http://students.washington.edu/nob/bpm_small.jpg It turned out pretty well save for a few discrepencies, such as my name (O'Brien not O'Brian) and that my collection has grown since it was written...I'm also pleased that the editor didn't edit any of my quotes (save for a single misquote [where it says Hong Kong it should say Taiwan]). Really excited about it. PC-FX maniac should be pleased that it mentions the A'Can :smt023
hehehe interesting read. I was in the official UK Xbox Magazine early 2003 with a high score for 1 of their challenges :smt023 Got apic knocking about somehwere I'll have to dig it up!
Cool article. I have one of your dream systems... but I think I saw it in your pick -- the Fm Towns Marty. Anyways, interesting comment about the arcades. I think most would agree that they're pretty wiped out at the moment. I wouldn't be the one to say, as I've not been to a NA arcade in about 7 years, but I hear through the grapevine that it's a lame scene. Funny, b/c what I know of other asian countries (not just Japan) they're still pretty popular. Korea is a country that comes to mind. I wonder if that has anything to do with retro-gaming, or what. Anyways - interesting read. Thanks for the link.
re It is a rather "lame scene". The arcade in my local mall shut down because of the lack of business. Most people just go there for the DDR now (I usually play fighting/racing/shooters). Not that that's bad, but the diversity of the arcade has diminished in the past few years.
Nice Article. :smt023 I wish there were some arcades near me that had F-Zero AX so I wouldn't have to play all the damn hard modes of the Story to buy new chapters in GX. :smt009
you're right, that is a Marty so it's no longer "in my dreams" and I dont need a NUON either anymore (got one as a birthday gift from a fellow collector)...these are my 8 dream machines... RDI Halcyon Entex Adventure Vision Gakken TV-Boy Compact Vision Bandai TV Jack SuperVision 8000 Daewoo Zemmix Capcom's CPS Changer Amiga CDtv Nintendo 64DD
There was a Zemix on Yahoo Japan for 13,000 yen that finished with no bids... this was a week or so ago.
Yeah I saw that Zemix. Daewoo Zemmix Capcom's CPS Changer Amiga CDtv Nintendo 64DD Are all available, all the time. I think that the A'Can is a 10 times better find than any of those, with the exception of the CPS Changer.
I don't consider the Seed a console but I definitely wouldn't say no to one...as for Yahoo Japan I dont know any japanese or anyone who can read Japanese, the only word I know in Japanese is "chameleon" and that's because it's tattooed to my arm... If anyone is willing to help me out finding these systems on Yahoo Japan I'd very much appreciate and pay them for their help too.
Well, there are actually companies who will do this for you. You'd probably have to add on $30 to the ending bid, + shipping to you from Japan, but considering they don't come by that often, it might not be a bad deal. The auction ended, but perhaps they'll post it again.
werd! I don't know if they'll help you look for it though. If not, PM me and I'll give you the URL you'll need. The guy that put it up for auction is actually a shop. I'll wager he's still got it. I think one of those companies will get this from just about anywhere... ask them, and I'll give you the link to the store. Ciao GP
The chappie who I get a lot of my Saturn/PC Engines games from on Ebay has a couple of DD64s in stock, with games. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8107799059 Or if you want a boxed one - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8104214217 Cool. Hope this helps. Hit-Japan is a good chap, and seems to have reasonable prices.
