Strange find. Interesting that it's a whole 2MB. Wonder if like other pirate games if it's full of "copy protection".

No problems. I've been lurking and thought I would give back to the community. I do plan on releasing some more stuff like this. I'm a major FF fan, plus I cant stand how Sony took over.

 

Releasing? This is a chinese hack that has been online for years with a fan made patch and an emulator that shouldn't be distributed with a ROM. Nice you provided it though.

 

Did you have anything to do with the release of this? Just finding it and posting it here doesn't make it "releasing"

It'd be cool if you do actually have some more stuff to share that's not out there yet.

 

Ok, I had a chance to "play" this. Oh dear lord it is awful. It took forever for Cloud to kill the first 2 enemies. I quickly lost interest. But I did screw around a bit adding some support for it in my NES emulator for "fun". If it weren't for it being 2 freaking megabytes big, the game could probably have been hacked to MMC1.

 

the game is unbeatable on cartridge because you have to level up so much by grinding and even still is unbeatable.

I'd already heard it wasn't a hack. Also I can comment that they did infact try to protect this broken game. Not near as much as Final Fight 3 for Famicom is protected, but still it's protected.

 

I thought this was just found like a year ago. This was done fast...

EDIT: Wow, with the "97%" patch, this is downright playable. It may well be a better game than any other Famicom FF title, actually. Of course, the coders, however talented, weren't working with original ideas, but it is still an amazing achievement on the Famicom. Super cool. Now I really want to play the pirate Zelda 3.

Lots of grind, but that's how most of these older RPGs are.
