I've been trying to backup the contents of my 250gig HD recently and Ive been having various issues, the main problem I'm having is accessing the games I've got saved on it... Firstly I tried ftp to the devkit and I see three directorys hdd0, hdd1 and hddx I can't get into hdd0 or hddx so Into hdd1 I go and I find folders called cache, content (29 files showing in the 0000000 folder) devkit, media, sysext and a system manifest file. After many dropped conections and failed transfers I decide to get a tranfer cable to transfer files faster and more reliably... But this presented a new problem because now when I accesses the hd I see three different partions... Partition 1, partition 2 and partition 3. I can access 2 and 3 with partition 3 being most like the hdd1 partition when I ftp.. With a few differences one being there is no devkit folder and two the content/00000000 folder has ten more items in there. Now I know that my hard drive is working in two ways, devkit when it's on my devkit and retail when it's on my retail and I also know that when I FTP to the harddrive I'm seeing the devkit part and when I use the cable I'm seeing the retail part..... What I want to know is can I use the cable to see the devkit files? And which program do I use to do this because I've used xport360 (constantly crashes when I try to read the content folder) xplorer 360 and xbox360commander all with the same result help!!
The best program is called FatXplorer. It was made by some kid and charges a stupid amount of money for it, and you need an internet connection to use it.(Welcome to the xbox-scene, where you have to pay for hombrewtools!) So honestly I encourage you to DL the ripped version thats works offline and is free.
Thanks for the info, I downloaded the trial version from the official site just to see if it works and it does!!!! and tbh I wouldn't have a problem paying for it if it didn't have to be online to work because that just isn't possible with my current setup....so I did search for a ripped "no internet" version with no luck just lots of non functional versions so I'm back to square one. Any other alternatives would be great except using neigbourhood cos my Ethernet port is broken.
I use Xport360 on my Devkit drives. Is that a retail 360 Drive? I would assume not since you are talking about FTPing. I'll say I HAVE used Xport360 without issue but FTP and Neighborhood are how i access them for the most part. FlashFXP is my preferred FTP client. But FatXplorer is good too..
Anthony codded fatxplorer, and sold the class to eaton so he could make money off it. Anthony is a great codder, so its pretty good. Just not worth a single cent.
Let me start by saying, im not 100% sure i understand the question. But none the less i will do my best, to attempt at helping. My memory is a bit fuzzy on the subject having not dealt with situations such as these for quite some time. So, IMO it would be in your best interest not to judge, if it may infact sound irrelevant and misleading, as i can assure you that is not my intention. So, your trying to ftp to the hddx and hdd0 partitions right? did you try running, Xbdm Ini Recovery.xex ? This xex can be found in a partcular old backwards compatibility program. If you manage to get it running hit "Create New" The screen will freeze, Reboot Now run it again and select "copy mobile J settings" It will freeze again, reboot. That, in theory, should give you access to those folders using Xbox NH. Good Luck.
Hey quick question related to xdk hdds. I accidentally formatted my HDD with like 50 games on it by leaving it in during a recovery. Is there any chance of salvaging the data? The drive was only formatted, then never touched again, in the off chance I could actually recover the data.
Maybe when you rebuild it with some hexedit. With luck you have access again. On xbh must be some tut to rebuild retailHDDs. But for xdk there could be other offsets. If you have some other HDD for test, you can compare.
I was just Reading through the fatxplorer webpage and it seems he does make a offline version for $40, so I was think rather than struggle to find a alternative I would just buy it.....so I email the guy and he informs me his paypal is blocked due to too many disputes so he'd like me to send $40 cash, through the post from the uk to the usa!!!!! needless to say alarm bells start ringing louder than bigben in my head so I offer to do a bank transfer instead so the money dosent get lost in the post, he refuses. So right now I'm asking for anyone who has a working cracked version of this guys program, I have no guilt in asking because I've tried to buy and he's made it impossible. So Anyone wanna put it on rapidshare for a day? :lol:
He won't scam you, buying an application for modding a console is already a scam in itself tho. It has tight security hence why he added the retarded online version of the program, he must have realized how retarded that was, but now he charges alot more for the offline version.
