Hey guys, So on my Master System and Model 1 Genesis, I get a small amount of video interference from what I assume would be my cheap knock off Chinese power supply (9v DC 1.2amp). I use a Retro-Console-Accessories RGB lead going to a XRGB Mini, so I seriously doubt it's video interference or lack of grounding. So, I was thinking that to clear up this video interference, I could stick a 0.1uF ceramic cap as a filter cap between VCC and GND on the 7805. Anyone have any experience or information on doing something like this? I would just do it and post results but I'd need to go buy some 0.1uF caps first and I'd rather not get them if it wouldn't even make a difference. Thanks.
Well, that is also an option but I guess I'm interested in whether or not this would actually make a difference.
I doubt it. The reason why you're getting interference is mainly because that PSU (which I'm guessing is a switching PSU) lacks a big filter cap and an inductor for reducing the switching noise.
Ah, yeah okay that makes sense. I guess I'll get an OEM power supply while I'm at it and compare the two, but I'm certain you're right in this situation.
