At least they're going to fix things. Most companies would have just considered the game a loss and moved on to the next big thing.
Agreed! I'm actually very impressed that they are going to be doing that at all. I just hope Final Fantasy XV will be more in the spirit of what made Final Fantasy so wonderful, huge world maps, a ton of stuff to discover and a core team that you keep at all times with SOME side characters. Final Fantasy XIII would have be great if it had not been named Final Fantasy . . . -Disjaukfia
Just read about this also. It shows that Square really cares about their products and the quality. Its odd that the game shipped with so many bugs and issues since Square has such a long development cycle. Also this isn't even their first MMO. It brings up the question of who really is aware of game quality at a studio besides the main game director and his team before it ships out. Sort of like the Tony Hawk Ride series, when that shipped you have to wonder if anyone outside of Robomodo even touched the game besides them before release. Or maybe they just knew it was poor and didn't care?
You bring a good point. I just hope that Square listens to what people thought of FFXIII and change the platform. I would love to see a FFX with more graphics and control enhancements along with a massive world map, not a linear story line, where you play several different people and you just level your weapons . . . I hopeful that FXIV might turn out to be something that everyone wants to play, because before that announcement, it sounded liked the game was doomed for failure before it was released for consoles . . . -Disjaukfia
Well some are so pissed off they wont come back regardless of the changes. So if enough are pissed off like that then the changes want matter 1 bit.
God if only Sega had this kind of attitude. Well i am glad FF Team decided to do this, i rather have an amazing game years later then a shitty game next march.
As others have said it's really impressive that they've done this. Better than the fuck you attitude other companies take.
Unfortunately I have to agree with you. If it does well and reviews well on the Playstation 3 then I think the game will be successful otherwise I think FFXIV has sealed it's fate already. -Disjaukifa
Apples to Oranges. From a fan who's been playing since Final Fantasy I XIII was amazing. It had tons of small references to older games in the series and continued the tradition of trying to do new things to make each installment unique. So far out of every single FF game released over the years including Spin offs, the original III for the Famicom and it's remake is the only one I don't care for that much. I even enjoyed my time with XI despite it's shortcomings. And i'm sure XIV is no different. If my new PC was finished right now, I'd be playing it for sure.
Regardless of weather or not they inprove the game wont matter if no one comes back. The content they will addis still gona require alot of people and lack of people will hurt the game more then the game sucks. It makes me thing the saving grace for the game is ps3 but even then you still gona have to wait till people get shit done for it to even realy matter anyway. If you one of them poeople who have to get eveything done asap and no waiting i think far and few will get anything done asap due to lack of people. This just isn't a game to be playing unless they convince a major change for a lot to come back befor ps3 release.
After seeing some of the MMOs my brother plays that pass off for free I'd say so. Then again this is a portion of the populous that could get addicted to nearly anything.
I just have a hard time justifying paying for a game and then paying to play it as well. I played FFXI for the free month and loved it but it wasn't worth 14.99 a month for me to play. The sad thing is I really really enjoyed FFXI, I wish I could find a pirate server or something so I could play that game today and not have to pay the monthly fee. -Disjaukifa
From a fan that's been playing since FFI... FF11 was the first FF i skipped. FF12 was the first FF i haven't finished FF13 was the first FF i haven't even bothered trying to play even after i had it (my bro bought it, i saw it, looked at gameplay and story, gave a big PASS). square, go back to the roots!
Is FFXIV really that bad? I love XIII, I think it's great escapism. XII was incredible, probably a better game, but it's fun to have something different for XIII. What the hell happened to Versus/Agito XIII?
Knowing Square and Sony, they are probably Japanese only titles that we won't see until someone has figured out how to translate them . . . -Disjaukifa
