I always enjoy watching beta pictures of games that are dear to me.
The whole internet is covered with beta pictures of Resident Evil 1/2 and there have been quite a few beta releases of these games. You just have to love unfinished 90s CGI:)
Given the cult following of FFVII I always found it strange that there is way less beta coverage than for Resident Evil.

A nice page is of course GlitterBerris: http://www.glitterberri.com/

Then there has been Squares Preview bundled with Tobal No.1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHnXAQxR2eE

Apart from that there is some alpha footage of the game shown on the International release:

Unfortunately I threw away all my magazines years ago.
If you happen to have any beta pictures please post them in this thread.

The video sums it up nicely. I dont think it is rare I even have it twice, though only the Japanese version. Maybe someone will hack it apart to see if there is more hidden stuff in it.

I dont know if it is 100% the same, but from seeing the video I conclude that the US Version is the same as the JP one with a very rushed translation (the linked video even mentions this). Just dont expect too much from it, it is nowhere as interesting as the Biohazard 2 Trial.

I dont know if this is against the form rules but if you just wanted the Japanese demo I could upload it.

These FF VII demos have different characters, they have a more realistic look, Aerith helps you ,a timeline is shown before the intro FMV and the reactor boss is not the Guard Scorpion If you look at the filestamp dates the JP demo is slightly older.

Ah, Final Fantasy VII. I'm suddenly reminded of all the theories that were online about how to revive Aerith. Never saw the point to that. I always hated her along with clingy Miss Melons. I couldn't believe it when so many people said they cried and thought it was one of the saddest moments in video game history. I guess I'm a heartless bastard.

There is quite a lot of beta stuff being discovered even to this day. It was just last year that a hidden scene was discovered in the beta honey bee inn.

It also answered a question that many fans were wondering for years: What was the unused "comedy" song going to be used for, and why wasn't it? Now we know.

I don't see why not. It's just a demo of an old game, so there shouldn't be any problems.

As I'm sure many of you are aware, the first non-international Japanese release of FF7 had a lot of unused content left over, such as the beta honey bee inn, which can't be found in the other versions. There is also some unused cut-scenes and debug screens as well.

This video for example has an unfinished debug screen with faceless characters standing around. It also plays a weird, corrupt version of Aeris' Theme that uses different instruments.
