Anybody give the FFXV demo a shot yet? I'm really enjoying it. Makes me even more excited for the final product. While the changes have been pretty big, I'm glad they went with them. It feels a little like Skyrim mixed with Kingdom Hearts.

Is the demo free or is it just in the FF Type 0 Remake?

Final Fantasy Type-0 pre-orders and day one purchases included a 12 digit voucher code. Square Enix has said the demo will not be released in any other capacity. The demo contains about 3-4 hours of gameplay and the download on PS4 was about 6 gbs. I know some people are selling the voucher code online for about $20-$30.

...then no, I probably won't be getting the demo then.

At least one of the retailers here is still giving away codes if you buy Type-0, even without pre-order. I'd love to get Type-0 regardless, and I'd definitely love to play the FFXV demo, but I don't have NZ$100 for the game. If someone wants to give me the money, I'll tell you how the demo is. =D

All the first print copies have the code included, so if retailers still have "Day One" sealed copies lying around then the customers can have a lucky day. While I thought $60 was a bit steep, I actually really like Type-0 and the FFXV demo packs a minimum of 3-4 hours of playtime, with exploration adding more. I'll probably dump around 30 hours into Type-0 with just the first run, so I thought it was worth it. Others would probably disagree, but to each their own.

So by the way, I managed to sell a bunch of stuff locally, and ended up buying the last collector's edition of Type-0 from Amazon because apparently they ship some games to New Zealand (and it was NZ$100 cheaper from Amazon than anywhere locally). I'm insane, but I'm also super-excited. So I guess you'll get your opinion after all! Haha, I'm broke now.

But in all seriousness, once I actually looked into it, I dug Type-0 enough to want it, and the collector's edition had just enough awesome stuff to push me over the edge. The funny part is that my PS4 is basically become a Final Fantasy machine... and I'm okay with that. I already pre-ordered X/X-2 HD Remastered (what a name...) since I didn't get the PS3 version (although I do have the originals that I've barely played, with X-2 being unused), I have FFXIV, I'll definitely be getting XV, and my Type-0 should hopefully be dispatched from Amazon in the morning (they sure take their time), so I'm going to have a LOT of Final Fantasy games on PS4, which is awesome, really.

The two or three retailers (not Amazon) that I buy from, though, seem to be giving out codes indefinitely with Type-0. Maybe it's a New Zealand thing because of the smaller market? I dunno.

The one that I can't swallow the price on is Bloodborne. I don't know if I'll actually enjoy that game. I have no doubt that it's good, but I still haven't played Demon's Souls and can't get back into Dark Souls. I loved Dark Souls when I got it, but I got to a point where I found it hard to progress without dying endlessly (because I didn't know where I was going or what I was doing), and going back to it since is almost impossible for me, especially without a guide.

I was thinking about getting X/X-2 HD Remastered, but I already have the PS3 version so I'll wait until it dips low. Let me know what you think of both Type-0 & FFXV whenever you give them a shot, Thomas. Just be prepared for the motion blur in Type-0. Most people cite that as they're one complaint about the game. FFXV:Episode Duscae's main complaint is the random frame-rate drops. Its noticeable, but not pervasive enough to be too much of an issue. You should be able to get a lot of fun out of both.

Yeah, I watched a couple of reviews, and noticed that. The camera motion looks cinematic, and I like that, but I can totally understand why people hate it. I"m sure I'll yell at the game for it at least once. =D I saw one summon from XV, and it was epic, so I can't wait to play it.

So Type-0 finally arrived, but I've been too busy (see: addicted like a crackhead) with Final Fantasy XIV to touch it yet. Once I do, I'm going to stream the ever-living hell out of it. I want to do a review on both games, but I'd like to avoid a traditional review in favour of something more unique and interesting. I have yet to come up with a good idea, which is pretty rare for me, admittedly (also see: obnoxious), but I'm sure I'll come up with something soon.

ANYWAY, I'm deliberating over whether I play FFXV or Type-0 first. The demo might be a better place to start, I suppose. Took a while to download, though, because my internet sucks ass.

Oh, by the way, I'll be getting another code, if anyone wants it. Well, probably.

See, the included art book of mine had 7 pages missing, or more so, replaced. There's pages 9-16, then another 9-16 repeated, replacing 17-24.
Trying to get this replaced has been a nightmare, involving emailing Square Enix and Amazon. Both stonewalled me, then both changed their minds, with SE even going so far as to say that their second reply of not being able to do anything and to sort it out with Amazon, the retailer, was not meant for me (which is highly amusing).
But now, SE appears to be ready to give me a new art book, and Amazon said they'll send me an entire replacement, then I have to send the current one back.
Amazon is out-of-stock but apparently expecting more next week, when they'll send one out to me, so if you wanted the Type-0 collector's edition, more are apparently on the way. I personally don't believe they are, but that's just me. I'm probably wrong, but I thought there was no more stock of them going out at all.

Anyway, yes, I'm almost ready to get around to it. I've send a tiny bit of footage of it and it looks seriously impressive, so there's that. I also think the hate over "four male characters" is really stupid.

I haven't gotten much farther than beating that rematch with the guy who gave you the tutorial, but the demo so far has relived most of my worries about the battle system.
