I have been weeding out games in my stash and came upon this little gem.
Final Fight Guy was not commercially released in the USA it was only offered as a rental in Blockbuster Video outlets. Each Blockbuster Video only obtained one unit and when it was no longer a popular rental they sold it used to the public. I feel very lucky to have this game complete although unfortunately they had to use the original box to display that the game was available for rent so it was handled by hundreds of people so it is a bit rough. The instruction manual is also rough because of the masking tape that was once on it holding the security strip in place.

    Enjoy the pictures.

The box alone makes it worth 3x as much.

Well the loose cart is pretty common, while the CIB rental one is far rarer..

But here is the "real" game, that came out as normal box as well.
Worth 10 times the rental one, but also 10 times less seen. ^^
Factory sealed, last one was sold for $4000+.
    Enjoy!

you'd have to be high on drugs to pay $4000 for a bit of plastic around a box.

Well, what you'd say about US guys paying $17450 ($17500-$50) for a bit of golden plastic then ^^

Same goes for $14000 for a sticker, instructions&cover difference.

    But it happened.

Anyway,i was just trying to help, providing pics of the real thing. You're welcome.

It is english, but for an obscure reason ( having owned this rental game CIB myself) they have let japanese writing on the box..and not even the same ones that on original japanese box, really odd ones ^^

It is in Japanese, it is as if they copied and pasted the Super Famicom cover just re-arranged to match the horizontal box format.

hmm, I have not held the jp version close enough to examine the jp characters. I can take a pic later tonight so everyone can compare.

The only english is the copyright info.

No,i wasn't talking of the front of the rental box...the japanese writings paragraph you see on top lmeft is the very same than on FF guy jpn cover, minus the final words "kageki ni sakuretsu On Final Fight Guy"
I was talking about the back of the rental box,IIRC the writing means nothing,it was badly cut/pasted.
Have you ever encountered the "black boxed" us ff guy?

The pictures i provided show than yes.
My guess is it wasn't commercially released in USA,but was in Canada.
That'd explain the rental thing in Blockbuster, and the released one in Canada (the only owners i saw of it are Canadians)

    Marketing.

In the US it was a Blockbuster exclusive and importing (back then) was still only something that the hardcore did. It was expensive and required buying something via mail order (which was not *nearly* as common as buying over the Internet is today).

The Japanese script on the back of the rental box is meant to make it look exotic. As if it came "direct from Japan" as advertised.
