So I've wanted a Hyperdrive ever since I played it at the '98 E3 in Atlanta. Built a crappy upright via a JAMMA cab, but it just wasn't as cool as a dedicated. Acquired California Speed Security PIC/boot chip/hard drive (legit items) and swapped that in, so I could have two games, but lost interest and the cab became something else. So I spotted a Hyperdrive on craigslist not too far, away, took a machine and traded for it. Had a bad hard drive, I made a CF card and swapped the setup in and the game runs fine now. Popped California Speed on the other day, playing that now. I didn't know it was the larger deluxe cab, for a while on the way home I was sort of wondering if it was going to fit in the little house, if not then I'd be able to stick it in the big house, hah. Sadly, it fit in the little house so that's where it'll reside. Hoping to get a Vapor TRX security PIC (legit) and swap that in so I can have the option of three cabs for the cab. I'm going thru it and cleaning it up, tightening up the loose controls and fixing the random little things (busted wire on trigger button, non-working view buttons that now work). Now I'm pondering making another upright Hyperdrive and linking them up, hah.
Hah, yeah, two houses, we got a deal on our place, a big house on 5 acres and it had a little house next to it (about 100 feet away). I have the little house crammed full of arcade games. I'd like to enclose the porch on the little house for having more games but my gal says that's a no go. Aw well. I'm just a winning lottery ticket away from having a giant kick ass arcade room.
Not very old, main house was built in '97, not sure about the little one, I think it was around the same time. But both are on parcels that were originally created by the (very small) town as two blocks for homes in the early 1900's. The previous owners had a ton of kids, maybe they built the little house for overflow, hah.
