Graciano and I picked this up late summer 2007. Well, last weekend the microswitch died in one of the HAPP Super sticks that came in my MVS cab. I threw in a spare I have, but figured...hell. While I'm at it, I might as well start restoring the fuckin' thing eh? And I happened to find ALL the keys, including the one to open the back. Monitor adjust FTW! Not that it needs it, functionally it's great. So I ordered a new CPO, and a mini marquee, and some new buttons. The new buttons were put in mostly because I couldn't believe how horribly it was wired together. Cold solder joints and what looks like...a paper clip used as ground. And mr stray quick disconnect, hi mr stray quick disconnect! much better! The mini marquee came in today. before after I'm not sure what to do with the bezel. Any ideas? also thinking about replacing the flourecent light with a black light. anyone tried that?
What's wrong with the bezel? Can't say I've seen that many that are red, they're usually black IIRC. I'm sure a Neo expert can correct me here, though!
it's a converted cab, usually the coin counter are in the CP and not the bezel. But also this has a tear and some holes in it. and Graciano, hey the thing worked. It didn't really NEED restoration. thinking about replacing the flourecent light with a black light. y/n?
I would not replace with a black light. For one thing, it is bad for the eyes. For another, it is not what SNK would have done, but it depends if you want to be legit with it or take it your own route.
Ah yes, I didn't see the counter! The black light idea is a horrible one. People still call them black lights? It's a UV bulb. UV exposure is bad... not just for the eyes. Whilst it may be a 'safer' spectrum of UV and therefore not cause cancer, it could still damage the skin and cause wrinkling prematurely!
Last week (2 weeks ago??) I got the new CPO in and today I replaced it. I was gonna do it yesterday but Graciano wanted to try out his new xbox 360 arcade stick so we put in massive hours on SSF2THDR. Anyway, The old smoke stained control panel stripped down, plexi removed` completely stripped down. Used a blow dryer to remove the decal. REPRODUCTION CONTROL PANEL OVERLAY APPLIED! I didn't measure properly and missed at the top...but it looks pretty good!
