I don’t get it, why do people get so excited over this stuff.
Get a modded xbox 1, all these games run great on the 8bit 16bit emulators with so many more options.

Dracula X: Rondo of Blood runs great on the xbox as does many other cd games.
you get save states and can create cheats....

hell same thing with the psp mod it....

Why would i buy a Xbox if i don't have any interest on it? Just to fill it with emulators? The same is valid for the PSP.

If i wanted a simple solution (like you are suggesting), i would just download an emulator for the PC and grab the rom/iso for "free". In minutes i would be playing it.

Still, i prefer playing games on my big TV, on a console i have. If it's decently priced, why wouldn't i support it? Is that wrong? I don't think so.

I second Johnny's entire post. I personally couldn't stand the Xbox, the controller killed my wrists.

I hate roms in general, I don't get the same please of playing them that I do from the games themselves. Plus when you get games from the PSN store, or the WiiWare store (just to give an example) the games sometimes have small changes to all better control, graphics, sounds, etc, something you wouldn't get from just hacking a xbox . . .

*EDIT* Its also nice for those who want to legitimately play classic games that are otherwise WAY to expensive used or too hard to find. Final Fantasy VII comes to mind, used its goes from 40 ~ 80 depending on condition, etc. On the PSN store its only 9 bucks! Its a cheap way to play the games we love and support the companies that made those games in hopes of them making more games in the future. *EDIT*

    Do what's best for you.

from one emulator to another?

    use
xbox to play at home, and on a big hd tv....
    there are many controller options
    and
psp to play on the go.

I have every option under the sun,
    My 1st choice
I own most of the real games you just listed.
and have the real hardware modded to be play in vga up-scanned from rgb to be played on my hd tv,
    nes on up.

If I really cared I own a lot of the real games, its my right to play a copy of it anywhere I wish.

All my systems are modded, ps3-jailbreak,360-jtagged,wii-chipped/softmodded,psp-cfw,xbox-chipped and so on.
If in needed I have many homebrew emus or I can use the boot of the re-released roms they try to sell.

What vc titles are truly enhanced? Other than 3d games like n64 and higher rez.. and maybe a few localized game that had only been out in japan in the past?

I guess it's one way to fill the fat pockets of a giant corporation.
I highly doubt the original dev team sees a dime 99.99% of the time.

I fear the day of dlc only..:(

Nobody said you can't emulate games, have modchips or anything like that. Don't make this topic a right or wrong argument.

Like you said yourself, " Do what's best for you ".

My PS2 is modded, for homebrew, imports and HDLoader. Do i support piracy? No. Do i criticize people that use piracy? No.

I have no right to say what people should do. If someone pays 500 dollars on a sealed game to keep it sealed, it's not my problem. If someone downloads 30GB of isos, it's not my problem either.

So, why it's so wrong to be excited to see some classics back on sale, even on digital form. I hate digital distribution, dlcs and stuff like that, but i don't see why a 20+ years old game being sold online is a huge deal. It's not like it's "killing" physical media.

Those games are emulated? Yes. The question is, why do i have to buy a Xbox and have another thing on my rack, just to play emulators? Your "best solution" falls flat, when you can get an ASRock or any other NvidiaION nettop and have all those emulators and stuff like xbmc (running HD content). Plus, with an HTPC like that, i can choose what controller / joystiq i'll use.

In the end, i'll have to spend money, right? Xbox, nettop,... I'll have to spend time installing emus, configuring, getting roms,... Why it's so wrong for me to just get the solution that is faster and easier (and probably cheaper)?

Funnily, you say "Do what's best for you" but you seem to like to push your opinion as the best and wisest. To me, you just sound arrogant. Also, your comment about a "giant corporation" sounded ridiculous.

    Why is that?

I think it is sad in many ways, they(big corporations) ask a lot for simple games that already made a profit with no physical form. In most cases never rewarding the original creators/team.....
The perfect business model for a large company but at a disadvantage for the customer.

By growing up being a collector with all the original releases the re-released DLC/VC seems well blah and unfulfilling.. To me DLC/VC is a very disposable form of entertainment with no form physical satisfaction or future return. I believe it's risky to let companies ever think this is
the preferred method. I hope I never see the day download only becomes more the only way :(

A roms a rom to me and I am very happy ill never need to pay for the digital only version of an old game again.

Remade/enhanced ver of a game with the original is ideal.
Like Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles on psp :)

I couldn't play stuff like Dracula X on an Xbox. Even if there is a gamepad that suits the game, there would still be the resolution drama of the original xbox (no lowres RGB) and the lame atmosphere of playing ROMs in general.

Then again where's the difference between playing it on an emulator (maybe on a CRT PC monitor w/emulated scanlines?) and playing it on a PS3? Both feels wrong, both lacks any haptic experience that a masterpiece such as this (and many other retro games) is supposed include :p

Unlike the PS2, the PS3 doesn't go below 480i either

Arcade VGA + Emulator = better than all the shit listed above.

    That was ave's point.

Absolutely none. Playing on the PS3 is playing it on an emulator. This is where it's fun to make fun of people that say, "I don't play emulation b/c it doesn't feel right" yet buy 16/32-bit games from PSN. :-|

Yeah, that's what I wanted to say. It even looks shitty because you don't have any scanline emulation options on the PS3/360 emulator, yet it costs money compared to the "free" alternative on the net.

And for those who don't want to get an expensive PC-Engine only for a few games: get the few games and play them on your PC. PCE-CD-games can be emulated simply by inserting it into the DVD/CD drive and booting up an emulator ^_^

It's incredible how a topic got kaput so fast. PC Engine / Turbografx are very expensive around here. I wouldn't buy a Xbox or an HTPC to play emulators on a TV.

I can play it for free now, on my old PC. But i don't. Still, why it's so wrong to expect to see these games being sold on PSN (for a small price, of course), so i can enjoy on my TV?

You guys turned this topic into a mess. I never said emulation replaces the real hardware, i never said i like digital distribution or dlc. I was just happy to see that i could play these games, on my TV, for affordable prices. Might i add that PC Engine / Turbografx isn't easy to find around here (apart from ripoffs in mercadolivre).

Hell, maybe i'll just grab an emulator and download roms for free. That seems to be the smart decision.

Aye. This is why I only play my games on their original format. Never did feel right playing those games on the Wii.

You do realize there's this thing that you're on right now called The Internet, right?

Nobody said it is. Just that it's kind of silly to get all excited for ports that will look pretty bad, even compared to their emulated versions. Debatable yes, but I happen to agree with it.

Surely they must get some form of compensation.
