I was looking for general information on old PSX magazines in Japan and stumbled upon a posting from Dengeki Playstation's first preview of FF7 back in February of 1996. Is any of this new? I'm not well versed in the game's development and how early the first shots started rolling out, so forgive me if this is old. Thought it's an interesting share since there's not many scans of JP magazines and their first previews of a lot of games. Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 It's funny on Page 2 they felt the need to show that frog in the middle of character introductions.
Thanks for the share! Maybe they wanted to have a frog character? Maybe someone can translate what the pages says..
Thanks a lot for these! Never seen these even though i have been interested in ff7 development/preview stuff.
(Edit: nevermind, read next post) I noticed there's only 3 main characters, also Limit break isn't in the battles yet.
The text for the frog points out he's not a main character and just appears in the middle of a magic spell. He's not a lost character or anything.
Awesome share. Looks like some of the screens have been pulled from the video that was featured on disc 4 of the international version and some locations aren't in the final game or that video!
I remember that one of the Final Fantasy VII action figures (the 1997 batch) came with a frog. I saw the toys before I played the game, so I expected the frog to have a larger role.
It was Aerith/Aeris that came with the frog. It was also included with the collectors edition which was a box set featuring the main characters. I owned the box set but never the "Extra Knights" which included Vincent, Red XIII & Sephiroth. They're a great set of figures but can be pricey to find complete.
Well... A a lot guides, 3D models and even concept artwork. Searched at youtube and found this. Typical Japanese gets many good things than us.
