So made my first order from aliexpress, I have to say the ordering process is super easy and cheap. Credit card only but secure. payments show up on my account as " WWW.ALIEXPRESS.COM LONDON " and for the correct amount so I can say they don't add $100000 to the order or anything haha. For those not familiar with the site, it's basically the Chinese version of eBay but only new stuff. It's owned by the alibaba group, who are very big over there apparently.. Items can be bout as singles or in bulk. I only made my order yesterday so I'll add to the post once I get my items. In the meantime I'll also put up some cool gaming stuff I find on there... Famiclone with 400 game cart: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1713455066.html New bootleg castlevania mega drive http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1604167586.html Earthbound for $60 http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1651876089.html megadrive 2 clone http://www.aliexpress.com/item/827307658.html Dreamcast vga + sd card box http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1465787001.html Post up your cool finds if you want
Wow, the VGA + SD card is pretty interesting. Too bad it costs $55. I wonder where this guy got his, though it's of crappy quality according to the guys at theisozone.
all links are 404 not found was this the 400 in one cart you bought http://www.aliexpress.com/item/400-...s-in-one-nes-card-FC-Card-NES/1881091517.html
None of the links work. I order from Aliexpress an awful lot. I'd say it's more like a Chinese Amazon than Ebay since you don't bid on stuff, just buy stuff out right. I buy Mega Drive clone PCBs from a store on there. You can choose from his list or just send him the ROMS and he'll put them on to a PCB for you. You can get your game with a cartridge casing with sticker and box too but the quality of these are poor. So just the PCB for me and then buy some junk game in Japan, gut the cartridge remove the sticker, print a new one and new cover and there's a cool looking clone The only problem is that you need to order at least 10 games and don't send the guy any rare prototype ROMS because he'll put them up on his store for sale.
Some Great info Yakumo ! An if you dont mind me asking ..did you happen too send a rare rom and he posted it up? And what type of boards do you recomend. Thanks you Sir
I assume so, the modbo4 I see on there seem to be the same I get on eBay but half the price. Just only get v1.93 nothing newer
No, I never sent him any rare roms but I did notice that every custom cartridge I sent a ROM for ended up on his store within a few days. I was going to get a cartridge made of a few prototype ROMs I have but now I think I'll pass on that idea. For the boards you can't actually choose however you can choose between just the PCB, PCB and cartridge shell or PCB, cartridge shell and game case. I'd just buy the PCB only if I was you since the cartridge shells are really cheap and can be broken with one hand and the sticker print is pretty poor oh and the design of the stickers are crap. The cases are nasty too. What I did was buy a box of 50 crappy Japanese MD games then gut the cartridge shells, take off the stickers and make my own. Check out this Joe & Mac I'm currently working on. Looks like an official release
I've been worried to buy from that site, I'm not too sure why just seems a bit weird to me along with some prices sounding too good to be true.
I bought the Hong Feng GB Boy Color from AliExpress. Approx. 16GBP including shipping for a brand new front lit Gameboy Colour was worth it for me, scren res is a touch off but not too shabby considering the price. I'd describe it more like the Chinese Amazon MARKETPLACE rather than Chinese Amazon as you are still buying from randoms and not a big company. It seems like you can buy any counterfeit item you like on there, gaming clones, clothing, entertainment..
Ive bought few times too. had a problem with wrong item being sent - was no different than resolving the issue than ebay, file a complaint, come to an agreement etc.
It's pretty legit. There are lots of money back systems, all of which seem to favour the buyer. Paying with Escrow means they seller doesn't receive any money until you have confirmed receiving the items (and testing they work/are genuine). It's actually a pretty nice system. I've had one or two orders where an item has been missing, resolved it with the seller. No biggie. Exactly the same stuff happens buying through Ebay. I actually almost feel safer on Aliexpress to be honest. At least their site works - I am trying to sort out payment of something on Ebay and pages just don't work. Error messages, buttons that do nothing, payment options changing by the day, it's pretty annoying! I've never encountered any of that with Aliexpress. The worst thing is trying to decide which buyer gives the best deal for whatever random item you're after (especially if you're getting electronics!)
For $60 I'd internalize both VGA and SD though I really like the idea of having discrete boxes for them.
