So i got a FM Towns 2 UX (i think, 16mhz 386 anyway). Where can i find info on the harddrive interface and how to fit a hdd in it?
Forget about internal solutions for UX, there is only one add on card produced by Urban Corporation but its very hard to get and expensive. You can connect nearly everything via SCSI external and use it as HDD; SD2SCSI, Mo Drives, HDDs, SY Quest drives etc... SD2SCSI is powered via cable so no need for another power supply, you could fit that all in one of the expansion slots. I have done something similar in my PC9801.... and x68k or Towns PS; There is a nice TOS tool for wallpapers ^__^ Question is; What do you want to do with your HDD when its installed?
I probably meant 2F! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FM_Towns#/media/File:FMTOWNS_2F.jpg Thats the one i have. UX is the one with built in monitor? And i want a hdd to put games on, and also the eup player and all the eup files i can find.
Yes, UX is the one with build in monitor. 2F mmmh could get very hard, does this one have SCSI on the backside? Otherwise you need to get that first! https://translate.google.com/transl.../newage/towns/fmt_hdd.html&edit-text=&act=url
Impressive, I'll keep this in mind when I eventually get into FM Towns stuff past the Marty, it's bound to happen one of these days... I'm praying that I won't fall down a deep dark pit of expensive games.
After all these years with FMT, i see much more sense in martys than before; If you can live without RGB, Rumstorm, Rumuder, Mahou and TOS its enough to play the best games. Most of the other games that benefit from faster CPUs are shitty ports or are better on DOS and x68k. PS; Mahou even feels like 10FPS after HDD install on 486 PSS; Its very urgent that you replace all Caps in your Marty ! Mainboard can be damaged and the CD drives tend to fail because of leaking power supply caps.
