I got an N64, the Reset button was stuck/jammed down, poss something spilled on it - I quick goo gone fix surely, I thought.

Post cleaning a small amount of light gunk out, which fixed the plastic reset button (top shell) I tried again- but the switch inside still unresponsive. It moves perfectly well and looks OK.

I fully disassembled, cleaned the board and the switch, looked very clean tbh anyway and tested the button for continuity, two of the legs weren't showing up.

I was stuck looking around for a spare button, so pulled one from a broken SNES.
(this was my initial guess because of the continuity, which I now realize is maybe not the issue)

I re soldered it up, tested again, got continuity from all 4 legs - but when I powered up and tried to reset, its still non responsive.

What am I missing here? I was hoping at worst it just needed to be cleaned out...

I had a little difficulty initially getting those same two legs to show continuity through the PCB, (same with both buttons incidently) - after carefully scratching out a small area of copper surrounding the two holes I soldered once more and this saw continuity - the surrounding traces all look OK and cant see any liquid damage or burst caps.

    I'm stuck.

If the reset button is stuck then either the system stays in bootup loop or doesn't reboot at all, I take it's the latter.

I have a few reset buttons however cost of posting to USA would not be cheap.
