so I just got this supergun in the post. it's an RGB/Scart supergun made by a french guy who goes by the tak joatku (I think). it's a simple device. the socket for the scart is the same as the neo geo one.

a while ago I had picked up a hatarex video wall monitor - these have rgb, svideo, and secam on the back. I bought it specifically for supergun gaming.

so the other day I tried out the supergun for the first time and I got a garbled image. it's just coloured lines on the screen. if I wiggle the part of the socket that goes into the supergun enough I get a recognaisable image of the board that's hooked up - for a split second, but it's definetly there. then it goes back to a screen full of lines (the colour of these lines correspond with thecolour of the screen in the game at the time - I think the image is flickering so much that you get these lines, but I don't know for sure).

now, if I almost pull the scart ead out I get a definite grey image - it's like a black screen when the monitor is switched off, but you can see the grey outlines of what's going on ingame, and it's quite clear, but only in the sence that you can tell the boards are functioning properly - the games are not playable like this.

so I really want to fic this and quickly. ofcourse I'm clueless when it comes to electronics and the like, so pleae be very patient with me. I opened the supergun up and there are alot of wires - thing is it's hard to locate which go where, and it'd be cool to find out which do what.

so do I have a shot at fixing this? anyone ever experience something like this? I'dappreciate any help I could get.

Don't go opening things up if you don't know what you're doing. :p It may just be that you need to fix the connectors on your cable, maybe they got bent or really dirty. You shouldn't need to open the main unit unless you're positive it's connector is at fault. If he did a decent job soldering everything inside the main unit should be good unless you bent the pins on the outside.

So first check and make sure all the pins on both connectors are good and fairly straight.

    First,

Agree with Motzilla, don't open it up. If the guy you bought if from is willing to help you, ask him. He knows how its built, and would probably be best at troubleshooting.

    First,

    The board...

What board are you using? It might be something that syncs at an unusual rate...that some monitors might have trouble with.
