So today I picked up a Gameboy Color and a copy of Pokemon yellow from a friend for a copy of Splinter Cell: Blacklist (Pretty sweet deal huh?)
Anyways the Gameboy works fine, but im having a problem with the copy of Yellow. He apparently was able to play the game this past monday, but when he tried it out today it seemed to not work. It isnt like he spilled anything on it or anything (I checked.) and he isnt the type to be abusive to his carts as you can see.

So I did what any person who really wants to play pokemon but their game doesnt work does...I googled it. I realized that I wasnt the only person whos had this problem, but I didnt get a definitive answer as to why, or how to fix it when I lurked those threads. So I deceided to ask for some help on here because honestly im now stumped.

Okay so first off I cleaned up the contacts on the cart itself. I first tried it with rubbing alcohol and a Qtip to see if that would work as it usually does. Unfortunately It would start the GAMEBOY logo and show NINTENDO (The nintendo isnt all glitched up either) and then proceed to go to a white screen with a brief little glitchy thing showing up on the top right corner of the screen. as you can see here:

So Then I opened the thing up to give it an even more thorough cleaning on the contacts. Again it would give that same error. I then tried the eraser thing on the contacts and cleaned it off, again no screen.
However, with enough cleaning it did momentarily change. Sometimes there would be no glitchy thing on the top left. IT would also show up as a black screen and when I would press A it would go to white. It would also do this black screen again, but when A is pressed nothing happens. At one point the game wound up having a grid like pattern (Think old school tron) and it would freeze like that. Eventually with enough resets its now the little glitchy thing on the top left again.
Ive cleaned and inspected this thing from top to bottom to no avail. I was hoping that it was just the gameboy but even my advance is having this problem.
I dont want to give up on this game as ive seen progress come from it so it cant be completely dead can it? Here are some other photos of the cart to help with.

It's most likely the ram brick. It's cut off in your picture, but I just happen to have a picture of a GB cart on my phone. Lol

I'm going to assume that you have a soldering iron and a little skill. I circled the ram chip in red. Flux the legs of that chip and reflow each leg individually. You are not trying to desolder or remove the chip, just reflow the legs on it.

Hopefully that will restore your cart to working condition. If it doesn't, you'll want to try reflowing the legs of the chip marked MBC. That is normally not the culprit, but it can cause the same problem.

    Hope that helps!!

Don't listen to whatever he is saying. Just follow my instructions above and you'll be set. The OP made two separate threads about this cart, but never came back to this one. In his other thread, he resolved his problem by reflowing the legs on the chips, like I said.
