Anyone have any suggestions for a good flash cart that's compatible with the sp? Also any suggestions for a reliable site to order one from?
is there any cart that isn't compatible with SP? anyway.. I got a EFA 512Mb cart.. but I havn't tried it in any SP.. but my friend has a 256Mb EFA and that one works with his SP.
if you're looking for something cheap, try the SuperCardSD - it works with SDCards. The only downside is, that every game has to be patched. The advantages are real time saves, cheat codes, ebooks, nes emulator, movie player and so on. check www.supercard.cn
With the ongoing fan translation for Mother 3, I was thinking of getting a flash cart too. Is it possible to apply a translation patch to a rom, then put it on the flash cart and play on the SP? I'm just a little unsure if this will work on the actual machine rather than through an emulator on my PC.
Translation patch don't really change anything which would prevent it from running, seeing as all emulators can play patched games the same way. And all the flashcarts work with both the GBA, GBA SP and the GB Micro and the GB function in the DS. So it being a SP shouldn't be a problem.
Do NOT get SuperCard SD for GBA. Every game is patched for a reason. To lower the wait state setting on the ROM to it's SLOWEST setting. Basically you suffer massive slowdowns because the speed of the RAM emulating the ROM is horribly slow. Some games it's not that much of an issue, but any fast paced game will suffer. If you want something that loads images from SD card, look for the "M3 Adapter". There are several versions, a CF card version, SD Card version, Mini SD card version, Micro SD I think, theres a Pro version and... I forget what it is called. But Pro is intended for Nintendo DS. If you want a real flashcart they are all over. A decent one I had once was called X-Rom by some "EasyBuy2000" person.
I ordered one of these: http://www.efa.cc/index-e.html. Originally got it from Kick Trading, but it doesn't seem like they have it anymore. Works using regular flash, just drag and drop your stuff to the drive in Windows, power up the GBA and select a file.
