http://www.actionscriptarchitect.com/2007/10/03/first-person-3d-engine/ I bet this is gonna be something big...
Nice indeed, but I wonder where this will be used. Is still too early as to replace most games, unless they would optimize the code enough for most smartphones/portable devices to be able to run it, which I doubt since the creators say you need a fast PC to use this. While real states companies could make 3D versions of the house/flat they are selling (which would be cool) is all down to costs. What I can see in the coming months is new 3D chat rooms like habbo hotel using this new engine.
I ran it fine on my crappy 1.4Gig PC. So I think with some code optimizing it would work fine on phones. My phone already does 3D better than what you get on the Playstation under Java so I don't think it will take that long. They'll have to sort out that PSX poly bending though. Yakumo
Yea I know but for the purposes of 3D content in a web browser it's much better to use Shockwave. I also think Quicktime VR would be much more suited for small 1 room kitchen tours as it would require less processing power etc.
I've tried a javascript 3D engine last week and it's not bad at all (even when it's really old and still doesn't have texture shading), this platform can be way more useful than flash as it can work in lots of different systems and it doesn't eat lots of resources.
